Publisher's summary

Trying to navigate this scary new world, the survivors have a lot to learn about their enemy. Overnight, the alien infection has spread through the population at an alarming rate. There are many unanswered questions regarding the infected. Are they dead or alive? Are they zombies? Or are they aliens? Whatever they are, they’re no longer human.

The infected only have one purpose, to serve the alien creatures that created them. They feed on the living until there’s nothing left. Those who survive are a shell of their former selves with an insatiable hunger for flesh.

Join the survivors on the third day of their journey, where they’ve become the prey.

Survival with no easy choices

Received audio review copy from the author, this an honest review. The narrator Julie Branc continues to do a superb job with this dark humanity survival series as we enter Day Three of this incredibly changed world. And doesn't get any easier as the people we follow hunt for safe shelter and available resources when each journey could result in being mauled by the alien creatures or those humans infected that will ruthlessly pound their way into a place to attack anyone. And for Cheryl, dark visions of a bizarre connection to the creatures leaves her shaken... disturbed by it means to be ' a keeper ' and terrified staying with her group of survivors will put everyone in danger if she stays. A gut wrenching choice and not one knows what it all means.

Highly recommended.

Jenny irritates me

No matter how long and how loud I kept yelling,
"NO, watch out", they never heard me or paid attention to my warnings. I was so on edge and tense as I listened and my heart pounded in my ears. Angela and her thoughts about a vanilla candle made me laugh inappropriately. Oh, well!
Jenny became more unlikable to me with each book. He attitude and her thinking she knew better, and lying about food next door made me furious. If it weren't for the others helping she would be infected or dead. Ungrateful thing!!!!
I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this. The narrator did an excellent job bringing the characters and story to life.

Continuation

This book is the continuation of this series. it's not a standalone and it ends in a cliffhanger so you can't read/listen to it without the other books. The whole series follows a group of strangers who survive the end of the world, essentially. The first book is just the first night, second is the following day, then time moves a bit quicker as the survivors meet up, then part ways and meet up with other survivors. The story is compelling and you get invested in the characters and their outcomes. I can't wait to start the next book. This series would make a great movie or series of movies.

Survivors grapple with a relentless alien threat!

In "The Keeper," M.A. Hollstein crafts a gripping narrative where survivors grapple with a relentless alien threat. Julie Branc's narration adds depth to the chilling atmosphere, keeping listeners on the edge of their seats. With its unique blend of horror and survival, this installment propels readers into a world where the line between human and monster blurs.

Survival

The Keeper is a well written book that is fast-paced and suspenseful. The survivors are still looking for safe places to live as the monsters and the infected are multiplying around them. One of the survivors has a secret that may be the key to what's happening, but will they tell or just leave? The narrator is still just as phenomenal. This book lacked a little something I just can't put my finger on what, though, but still an enjoyable read. I received this book for free upon my request. I am leaving my honest and unbiased review here voluntarily of my own free will.
