When the flu season struck America, it impaired the population, crippling what the collected power of the people were capable of doing to fight the outbreak. Unfortunately, it was not the same for everyone. There were three types of people. The first had no diseases, the second had the flu, and the third were busy fostering a zombie virus that was going to bring the nation to its knees.

This story isn't about heroes, there are no guarantees. This is a story about Mike and his family, and what they have to endure to survive. If they want to see another day, they are going to need the help of their neighbors and friends.

The situations leaving the main characters in the depths of hell are only outweighed by the comical situations that they get put in. There's no telling what or who is going to survive. Those that survive must fight or take flight and in some cases do both. Civilization will be something new when dawn's light falls on the Earth for the second day of the apocalypse.

I almost didn't make it...

the way that the....narrator speaks to us...like William Shatner is....beyond annoying. With a different narrator this might have been a decent book.

Survival

I loved how these zombies had more functionality than your typical zombies. I'm looking forward to the next book!

Great read!!!

The story line was really interesting, the characters had good background stories, the author did a great job. I’ve read 100’s of zombie stories and I feel as though this series (at least the first book) is a series I definitely want to read. Great job on the story Mike Evans and narration had superb inflect, good tone. I can’t wait to go to book 2 in the series!!

IN THE TOP TEN IN ZOMBIE GENRE!!!

I love zombie books and I have listened to sooo many.This is an excellent zombie book. One of my favorite narrators.It’s exciting, funny and the characters are great. There is a lot going on. Not a dull min. Now Mike has grouped his books in 3 books for one credit. Well worth the credit and time. Really entertaining!!

Not bad.

I can tell that this story is written by a amateur zombie writer. However, with that being said. It’s still turned out to be a pretty good read. There were some funny moments that I truly enjoyed, and Diane and Danny were by far my favorite characters. Will definitely be going on to book 2.

Amateur writing

This author has a bad habit of using the exact same wording multiple times in 2-3 consecutive sentence. There’s one part where the words “so he could see again” was in 3 sentences in a row. And the use of words such as “literally” are used far too often. The story line is ok but the writing is amateur.

Didn’t love it, didn’t hate it.

There was enough interest for me to move on to the next book. I am invested in the outcome of some of the characters. It seems that nobody has last names, it is odd to hear very young children calling there adult neighbors and bus driver by their first name. The second issue is some of dialogue between characters. These people are in life and death peril, but they talk like they are at a coffee shop.

Really enjoyed this first book in the Zombie on the Block series! On to the next one right now.

Another great one!

This book drags you in from the very beginning! A great take on the zombie apocalypse, and of course leaves you wanting more!

Meh

I love the storyline! Didn't care for the narrator's voice and the horrible sarcastic remarks. It was too much. An overkill.
