Juan Cabrillo faces a global deadly threat in Clive Cussler's The Jungle.
Juan Cabrillo and the crew of the Oregon are up against their smartest foe yet - but in their midst there is a traitor . . .
After losing their contract with the US government because of a daring raid too far, Cabrillo and his crew of mercenaries with a conscience are earning money the hard way: doing dirty, dangerous little jobs in the world's trouble spots. Now they've accepted a mission deep to find a missing adventurer deep in the jungles of Myanmar.
But it is not long before Cabrillo and his team realise that they have been set up.
Cabrillo - betrayed, tortured and played for a fool - is angry that he's been used as a pawn in someone's deadly scheme. But with the US nuclear launch codes up for grabs and a madman bent on using them to hold millions of lives to ransom, he hasn't time to worry about revenge.
He's got to save the world first . . .
The number-one bestseller Clive Cussler, author of the thrilling Dirk Pitt novels Treasure of Khan and Trojan Odyssey, and co-author Jack Du Brul tell a gripping story of adventure, treachery and betrayal in the eighth Oregon Files novel. The Jungle is preceded by Corsair and The Silent Sea.
Praise for Clive Cussler:
'Frightening and full of suspense . . . unquestionably entertaining' Daily Express
'All-action, narrow escapes and the kind of unrelenting plot tension that has won Cussler hundreds of millions of fans worldwide' Observer

It actually tries to be a crime-thriller though, sucking you in by hiding information and make you wondering what's going on - just like Dan Brown is so good at. And Clive Cussler does this well in the first one-third of the novel. After that it becomes a bit predictable, full of cliches etc.
Be aware, its a very American novel. And very post-9/11. I'm European and study International Relations, and there are some things in this book that are just waaaay off.
But still, it's enjoyable. Good narration. It's easy, like watching a block buster. But not something to remember.
It's an action novel, and very American

If you could sum up The Jungle in three words, what would they be?
Adventure, fun, glory. What other book might you compare The Jungle to and why?
Good one. It's the typical Cussler. A basic succes formula. But other writers in the same genre use simular formula's. So the difficulty is the amount of books to chose from. What about Jason Culp’s performance did you like?
Pleasant voice to listen to, no excessive enthousiasme nor monotome droning , enough variation between the characters, in short, fine by me.If you could rename The Jungle, what would you call it?
Back to the Saltmines. Or Ruby Intelligence.Any additional comments?
Even if I have most, if not all Cussler books in my paper and/or digital library, I think i'll add them , as far as possible, to my Audible Library.Old school but hi tech adventure
