He’s the campus king with a no-girlfriends rule.
But he’s about to break it for the most irritating, sassy-mouthed woman he’s ever met.
Flynn Kingman’s senior year plan is simple: class, getting drafted in the first round, and no romantic complications. Until he chases a rogue baby donkey across campus and meets Tempest Navarro—the one woman immune to his charm.
Tempest Navarro is hiding her bestselling romance novels, anxiety, and a baby donkey in her sorority house. Nope, nothing to see here. Especially not for a jock that’s too hot for his own good. Why does he have to be in her Shakespeare class, saying smart things, and driving her insane?
When they’re forced together by a university tutoring program, verbal sparring turns to undeniable attraction. Especially when Tempest’s emotional support donkey, her meddling sisters, and a whole lot of Kingman siblings are all conspiring to push them together at every turn.
This steamy sports romance features a protective football player with hidden depths, a curvy heroine owning her talents and learning to take up space, an emotional support donkey with perfect timing, and that Bridgertons-meets-American-Football family that’ll make you wish you were a Kingman.

Bearded football player? Check.
Curvy FMC? Check.
BIPOC FMC? Check.
Queer representation? Check.
The struggle of navigating the unrelenting pressure of societal and family pressures that oppress our ability to live authentically? Double check.
This book was so real. I’m bummed we had to wait so long for a BIPOC female protagonist, but Tempest Navarro was so worth the wait. She is my absolute favorite PAL of our beloved Kingmans.
5 stars across the board. Very well written fluff!
The BEST Cocky Kingmans novel yet!

As a former lit major and full-time Shakespeare fangirl, I devoured this latest installment in the Cocky Kingsmen series. The Jackass in Class had me at “Shakespeare-inspired chaos” and kept me hooked with one of the quirkiest pet plotlines yet—a rogue donkey.
This time, we follow Flynn (one of the infamous twins), who literally chases a runaway donkey across campus and ends up crashing into Tempest—an effortlessly cool, quick-witted student with no time for a guy she assumes is just another jock. Except Flynn isn’t your typical himbo. He’s secretly brilliant, deeply kind, and more than happy to help her hide said donkey in her sorority house after the animal sanctuary where Tempest volunteers floods.
Tempest is a force—sassy, guarded, and hiding a massive secret: she’s a bestselling romance author with a Shakespearean pen name and a family full of intimidatingly accomplished women who she’s sure would never approve of her career. As their chemistry sparks and secrets unravel, Tempest is facing a life-changing movie deal, and Flynn’s on the brink of the NFL draft.
What I loved: the academic banter, the electric tension, the loud and loving chaos of both of their families (especially Tempest’s Abuela—iconic), and of course, the classic Kingsmen camaraderie that’s always the heart of this series. Tempest and Flynn are one of my favorite pairs so far.
What I didn’t love? Flynn calling Tempest “My Queen.” I get it, but… ick. Personal ick. Still, I’ll forgive it for the sheer serotonin this book delivered.
If you love found family, spicy romance, literary easter eggs, and a donkey with a wild streak—this one’s a winner. Light, fast-paced, and full of heart.
