Publisher's Summary

USA TODAY Bestseller! “Coble doesn’t disappoint with her custom blend of suspense and romance.” -- Publishers Weekly

Claire’s visit to a luxury hotel in Maine awakens repressed memories and threatens all she holds dear.

In 1989, Claire Dellamare disappeared from her own fourth birthday party at the Hotel Tourmaline on the island of Folly Shoals, Maine. She showed up a year later at the same hotel, with a note pinned to her dress but no explanation. Nobody knows where Claire spent that year -- and until now, Claire didn’t even know she had ever been missing.

But when Claire returns to the Hotel Tourmaline for a business meeting with her CEO father, disturbing memories begin to surface . . . despite her parents’ best efforts to keep them forgotten.

Luke Rocco lost his mother under equally mysterious circumstances -- at the same time Claire disappeared. After a chance encounter reveals the unlikely link between them, Claire and Luke set out together to uncover the truth about what happened that fateful year.

With flashbacks swimming just beneath her consciousness and a murderer threatening her safety, Claire’s very life depends on unscrambling her past . . . even if her family refuses to acknowledge it. Someone -- maybe everyone -- is hiding something from Claire Dellamare, and it will cost her everything to drag the truth out into the light.

“Evocative and gripping, The Inn at Ocean’s Edge will keep you flipping pages long into the night.” -- Dani Pettrey, bestselling author of the Alaskan Courage series

“I burned through The Inn at Ocean’s Edge in one sitting . . . Colleen Coble has done it again with this gripping opening to a new series. I can’t wait to spend more time in Sunset Cove.” -- Heather Burch, bestselling author of One Lavender Ribbon

“Coble truly shines when she’s penning a mystery, and this tale will really keep the reader guessing . . . Mystery lovers will definitely want to put this book on their purchase list.” -- RT Book Reviews

This is a fresh story...

Expecting more of the Seagrass gang, I was happily surprised with a whole new story line. I greatly enjoyed this one, thank you Colleen, hope there are more from Luke, Claire and Kate!

OUTSTANDING

One of the best I've read. The plot kept me hanging on to the very end. Refreshing to have a story that was both clean and yet enticing; good morals and yet very true to life. Will definitely read more by this author.

A good premise but...

I hate stories where the main character has to be too stupid to live in order to create conflict for the story. The heroine saw a murder, can id the killer, was struck on the back of the head, then wanders around by herself on the edge of a cliff. I gave up at that point & returned he book.

Great Storyline but hard to follow for me

I loved the premise of The Inn at Ocean's Edge.
Mystery, love, sisters and the open.
Great combo there.

For me, I had a hard time following Kate/Claire. I put this on me though. Having to a horrible memory doesn't help.

Other than that I loved the book. I love books that Devon O'Day has narrated and that Colleen Coble .has written. The pair are fantastic together!

Her writings will keep you in the storyline the entire book!!

Narration wasn't right for this book. Narrator has a good voice, just didn't give the characters enough feeling..

Disappointing

******SPOILER ALERT******
I hate to leave spoilers but there’s no way around it. Omgosh, I can’t believe so many people raved over this. It started out 5 Stars but didn’t take long to go down. It gave me more stress than I already had in real life because the whole book was how no one would give any answers to the same conversation over and over. It was like Groundhog Day movie over and over. And to try and change the subject, the characters would say, ‘want some ice tea?’ I really had a hard time with how the sheriff treated the whole case and was so condemning towards Claire. And he didn’t investigate like he should’ve. This has got to be one of the most poorly written books, I can’t believe people like it. No cop does their job so poorly. And in the end, we didn’t hear or see the sheriff any more. The characters were so poorly developed and the writing choppy. Nothing they did or said makes sense. And I don’t think there are orcas on the east coast.

If you’re listening to the audio version, the narrator tells it in a sing song voice sounding like she’s reading to a child. During some parts she’s really good but most times it’s saccharine sweet. Giving the listener the feeing of being ignorant.
