Story
For the last fifty years, we have been fighting a losing war on food. We have cut fat, reduced carbs, eliminated sugar, and attempted every conceivable diet only to find that eighty-eight million American adults are prediabetic, more than a hundred million have high blood pressure, and nearly half now qualify as obese. The harder we try to control what we eat, the unhealthier we become. Why?

In The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning, artist Margareta Magnusson, with Scandinavian humor and wisdom, instructs listeners to embrace minimalism.

Good summary of some other books

Publisher's Summary
Food addiction is real. Our body’s built-in reward system, driven by the chemical dopamine, tells us to do things that give us pleasure: Creative energy, falling in love, entrepreneurship—even the continued procreation of the human race—are driven by this system. Unfortunately, so is the urge to overeat.
In The Hunger Fix, Dr. Pam Peeke uses the latest neuroscience to explain how, with repeated exposure, coupled with life stresses, any food can become a "False Fix" and ensnare you in a vicious cycle of food obsession, overeating, and addiction. Indeed, she shows that dopamine rushes in the body can work exactly the same way with food as with drugs like cocaine.
Luckily, this very same system can be easily rewired to reward us with a healthy, happy, and fulfilling life. The Hunger Fix lays out a science-based three-stage plan that shows us how to break our addiction to False Fixes and replace them with healthier rewards. Fun fitness activities, customized meal plans, and delicious, satisfying recipes are designed to trigger the specific neurochemical cascade that stimulates your body’s reward system, reclaims your hijacked brain, and supports your lifelong recovery.
Energizing Healthy Fixes, such as meditating, having sex, writing your own blog, or going for a walk on the beach—even laughing—quickly replace the junk food, couch time, and other self-destructive habits that can leave you unhappy and overweight. Packed with practical tips, useful advice, and plenty of wit, wisdom, and inspiring stories of those who have successfully transformed their bodies, The Hunger Fix is a life changing program for anyone (of any size) trapped by food obsessions and the urge to overeat.

if I hear "epipha-ME" one more time...
I tried really hard to stay engaged. There is really nothing that I didn't know, as a longtime Dieter. The book get into the scientific data a bit too much, and the author Reed's anyway where she thinks she is kind of clever or funny. there is a lot of information if you are into the scientific data.

Get to the point!
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
This is a difficult book to listen to. Perhaps the rating could have been higher if the author would have gotten to the point and stopped plugging herself over and over again.
Has The Hunger Fix turned you off from other books in this genre?
I will definitely be more cautious about choosing this type of audible book. I will seriously read and consider the certified purchase reviews on Amazon!
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The constant plugging of personal credentials and the repetition of words just killed it for me. After awhile, I didn't even care if there might be useful information at some point, I just couldn't listen anymore.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
No, not really. Sorry.

Waste of money
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
The writer just went on and on about the same thing and never really addressed the issues.
What could Pamela Peeke have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Stop asking questions over and over and address the issues instead. Very repetitive.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Pamela Peeke?
NA
What character would you cut from The Hunger Fix?
NA

really enjoyed the insights. great methods and "how to" if you're interested in making life changes. Best book about food addiction
This has been the most helpful book I,ve ever read about food over eating addiction. It scientifically explains why it is that I turn to food when I’m stressed, upset, or frustrated, and why the smallest little irritating thought can send me into the arms of food. It also explains how to handle the addiction, to overcome, and forever be in recovery. Thank you Dr. Peeke

Not a good listen
This book may be better suited as a physical book due to all the scientific information, questions, and exercises.
However, the author reads WAY to slow, even at 1.25x it's too slow. But 1.5x is slightly fast to grab the scientific information.... The same words and phrases are repeated WAY to many times, but if you missed the initial time it was said you have no idea what it actually refers to. Also, I get it's about food addiction, which can be compared to any other addiction, but the amount of times drugs, cigarettes, and alcohol is referenced is just over kill.. The information could have been condensed to half the length if some of these redundant references were taken out..
Again. It might be better as a physical book where you can easily skim over all the filler to get to the actual information you want, but I ended up returning this book as I couldn't even finish it. It annoyed me too much especially the way the author kept saying epipha-ME, and the amount of talk about getting high, food being referenced as a drug you'd shoot up, again I get it's an addiction, but would be so much better of the author had just gotten to the point without all the fluff..
