When primary school teacher Miss Jenny Hart loses her job and long-term relationship in a matter of moments, a job offer comes out of the blue to save her.

But not everything is as it seems at this school. Children have gone missing, the head is acting suspicious, and things go bump in the night.
There is more to this job that she doesn't fully understand...that is, until it's too late.

She was wrong when she believed her life couldn't get any worse. The spirits of this school are angry, desperate, and looking to end their curse once and for all.

This novel was great! It was an old-style ghost story but wasn't at all stale or "same-y." This isn't for gore enthusiasts; it's much more like a 1980s horror/ghost story, depending on atmosphere & interesting characters. I loved the "creepy/scary boarding school aspect. I found this audiobook a real treat.

Really fun old-style ghost story with a twist

If you enjoy a creepy, gothic tale, you will enjoy this book. Jenny Hart accepts a teaching job at a girl's boarding school after being let go from her previous position. Little does she know that there is much more to this school that meets the eye. She soon starts encountering things that defy logic and she isn't sure if she is going crazy or truly caught up in an unending horror.

The book moves between two different time lines, but it was easy to follow the story as it progressed. There were a couple of twists that I didn't expect, which kept this from being just another ghostly tale. The atmosphere of the story definitely gave off gothic vibes and since I am a long time lover of those old time gothic stories, I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

The narrator did a great job and added a lot to my enjoyment of this book. I will definitely be looking for more books by this author.

Just when Jenny thinks things can't get any worse after she loses the teaching job she worked SO hard to get, she arrives at her home to see her fiancé sleeping with his assistant.
Out of nowhere, she gets a job offer from Old Eden School, somewhere she has never heard of and definitely didn't apply to. Seems too good to be true, right?

Of course right. This is a horror story. But what, exactly?

She gets to the school and starts noticing some strange things. Why has she seen only one other teacher? Why does she get that weird feeling that she's being watched? What in the world is up with the dreams that she's been having since moving in? And WHY is no one concerned with the amount of deaths that have apparently happened in the school's history?

The chapters went back and forth between Jenny's current POV and the POV of the past students and past leaders of the school. I liked how the pieces started all coming together as the POVs changed, and seeing how Jenny started putting it all together too. It definitely had its creepy moments, but it seemed to just end really quickly. I enjoyed it, but I felt like something was missing, though I don't know what that something would be. All in all, I was satisfied with the ending and the journey there.

There's more than meets the eye at Old Eden School

I often listen to audiobooks in my car on trips with my cats. I actually said the headline of this review out loud to my cats during the trip. It was early in the book and the trip so I kept going. It did not get better for me. The story was not scary, spooky or even terribly intriguing. I really hate to put negativity out there on an authors attempt to make a horror story. I appreciate that it isn't full of gore and gross imagery, it isn't overly descriptive of vulgar sex acts or (worst of all) about budding love interests. I appreciate the effort here, but this just never got good and ended dully.

I really wish Audible would do a better job of categorizing their Horror (4 sections) the way they do Romance (nearly 20 sections).

"Yikes. This story is not good."
