Skip this book
If u are looking for a good world war 2 historical novel skip this book. It is a Harlequin romance in a German city with the war as a backdrop. Tedious, slow, breathless teenage emotions. If you like romance you will love this - if you like history you won’t be able to finish it- I got thru a few chapters before I gave up.

Far too romantic for me Astonished at some accounts of the story that she was so untouched by events And to record the activity following the war of "kind but thoughtless" American army Why wasn't it relief that the tyranny was over? And bloody Henrich what a pillick! !!

Beautifully written
The love story a little predictable- she me may say a little “Hollywood “ however reading WW2 from the perspective of the average German citizen was quite an eye opener for me and rather interesting - in terms of language and grammar it is beautifully written and superbly narrated.
I will read another by this author.

Beautiful and poignant story
One of the best stories I have read from world war II times all the way through rebuilding a life after from civilians' view points . It truly gets your heart beat going all the way through the book.
The best part: the narrator. such a beautiful soothing and down to earth voice. The perfect voice to tell this story.
The author chose the perfect words to remind us what Kindness, Resilience, Love and Passion truly are.

Captivating!
It took me two tries to get into this book because the start is a bit slow, but once you get into it, it’s a great read. I ended up listening to the whole thing over 3 days which is unusual for me, but I just couldn’t put it down!

I found myself rolling my eyes
I really wanted to love this book, but I found myself rolling my eyes as the twists and turns were very shallow at best.
I don’t know if it’s because I’m a woman in the current times, but I just found it predictable and dull.
I got through it because I thought it was the right thing to do… i feel bad leaving this review, but honestly I look for honest reviews before purchasing a book.

Couldn't stop listening
Listened during a long road trip. Hadn't finished before I got home and was annoyed!! Grabbed every moment I could to get to the end. Has me really thinking about WWII from a German civilian perspective. Great human story.

Licht auf historische Tatsachen
Mühlen und Segen. I had thought this was a historical novel about post-war Germany.
Although interesting and extremely entertainingly light reading. The Girl from Munich is not a historical novel nor is it a study of German culture. I found it interesting that they used one of my family branch names as the heroines family name.
German life even in the American / Englander zones was extremely hard and I regret this novel does not explore this. The mass migration, Starvation and legal nuances are lacking. Unwed mothers and missing persons were accepted and noted the horrific treatment by the Russians was bearly touched upon.
If you want a light read with a Mills & Boon lint. This book is worth reading.
But not a historical novel.

An informative book.
I can't say this book was a favourite but it was most informative regarding the situation of the German people after the Second World War. Makes you realise that most of the everyday people were as brainwashed by Hitler as were the soldiers.
