After their last wild adventure, the Flock members are taken under the wing of an FBI agent and try to live "normal" lives by going to school, making friends - and continuing their relentless search for their parents. But the Erasers return, forcing the Flock to abandon their search and make their escape once again. The voice inside Max's head keeps telling her that it's up to her to save the world, but this is especially challenging to do when she is faced with her ultimate match: a newer and better version of herself, Maximum Ride II.

Weeks before NYPD Detective Michael Bennett is to marry his longtime love, Mary Catherine, an assassin announces his presence in the city with a string of grisly murders. Each victim is a young woman. And each has been killed in a manner as precise as it was gruesome. Tasked with working alongside the FBI, Bennett and his gung-ho new partner uncover multiple cold-case homicides across the country that fit the same distinctive pattern - proving the perpetrator they seek is as experienced at ending lives as he is at evading detection.

Our task is simple. Kill all the demon baddies before they wreak havoc on the human realm and destroy the fragile peace between our two worlds. Easy peasy, right? Well if I can't figure out how to get this devil's mark off my chest, the demons won't stop coming for me. Luckily, my long lost father has shown up promising to help me get rid of it. But do I really want a dark warlock's help? Then there's my love life - or serious lack there of. I broke all the rules my first semester, and the worst was falling for my demon bad boy instructor.

Welcome to Darkblood - oops, I mean Darkhen Academy. There are three rules to survive the elite supernatural school: Do not talk or even look at The Seven, the uber-powerful supes that rule the academy. Never go into the Fae forest on a full moon...or else. And most definitely do not fall for one of the extremely hot and unattainable instructors. Too bad I’ve never really been a rule follower...If word gets out that humans are no longer safe from the supes, our worlds will once again be closed off. It’s up to us to stop that from happening.

Publisher's Summary
The second instalment in James Patterson's magical new series.
Whit and Wisty Allgood are leading the Resistance against the despotic New Order. Hailed as ‘Liberators’, they are prophesised to overthrow the ruling regime. As such, Whit and Wisty have achieved notoriety and are very much at the top of the New Order’s ‘most wanted' list. But, as time passes, they are becoming more skilful at harnessing their magical capabilities, and their powers are growing stronger every day.
The One Who Is The One, leader of the New Order, has escalated the intensity of his bid to eliminate the Allgoods and will allow nothing to stand in his way. But there is something he needs from them first: their ‘Gift’. If he manages to take it from them, it could bolster his already immense magical powers to a level unimaginable. And this could make The One Who Is The One, and the New Order, unstoppable….

I really battled with this book. Plot lines were jumping around and the start of the second book was disjointed from the ending of the first. I can't finish this book. Female narrator also unpleasant to listen to.

A sequel that didn't even follow the first book!
I am sorry to say that the first book was ok, but this one was awful. I don't know if James Patterson even read it much less wrote it. A waste of a credit, and I won't get the last one either.
