A groundbreaking, “lavishly informative” (The New York Times) portrait of the six generations that currently live in the United States and how they connect, conflict, and compete with one another—from the acclaimed author of Generation Me and iGen.

Upending the conventional theory that generational differences are caused by major events, Dr. Jean Twenge analyzes data on 39 million people from robust national surveys—some going back nearly a century—to show that changes in technology are the underlying driver of each generation’s unique makeup. In this revelatory work, Twenge outlines key shifts in attitudes and lifestyle choices that define each generation regarding gender, income, politics, race, sexuality, marriage, mental health, and much more.

Surprising, engaging, and informative, Generations “gets you thinking about how appreciating generational differences can, ironically, bring us together” (Angela Duckworth, New York Times bestselling author). It will forever change the way you view your parents, peers, coworkers, and children, no matter which generation you call your own.

I started reading this book thinking we are left or right leaning in thought. Generations demonstrates, with statistics and data, why we are who we are, think the way we do - and that we have more in common than it appears. A must-read for every generation.

Wonderful insights into who we are

Fascinating. Pretty spot on -at least for my and my children’s generation. I hope I can bring some of these tid bits to help me relate to my co-workers

I enjoyed listening to this title. This book was a very fair and balanced perspective about the different generational cohorts. The author definitely showed her expertise in this area by challenging some misconceptions about different generations. The only critique that I have is with the audiobook, the narrator lists a laundry list of names with each generation which is very boring, and could have easily been listed as a PDF.

Brilliant!

This is such an important book. I wish I had bought the physical edition because the narration of this is painfully robotic. I stuck to it, and am very glad i did.

This is really a must read

A very insightful and well researched book. I’ve been able to learn and understand more about my own generation as well as the other living generations.

Very insightful
