Story
Let’s be honest - traditional small firm law practice is not working very well. Too many small firm lawyers struggle to make ends meet, get clients, meet clients’ expectations, or they wrestle with mental health issues or substance abuse. Meanwhile, there is a huge gap between those who need legal help and those who can get it. But it doesn’t have to be that way. We can build better firms, be more effective with our clients, enjoy better health and a greater sense of fulfillment, and make a bigger impact on our communities.

Skilled lawyers who open their own firms can quickly find their dream career turning into a nightmare. When the firm doesn’t grow as fast as you expected, the money doesn’t come like you’d hoped despite working long hours, and your less-capable peers are passing you by, it can be demoralizing and deeply frustrating. Mike Morse has been there. The change he made that transformed both his personal life and his professional future was running his law firm like a business.

Story
Do you know the number one secret to getting more law clients? Marketing is always evolving. Forty years ago, lawyers couldn’t market. Then along came Bates v. Arizona state bar, and attorneys rushed to radio stations, local TV, and the phone book in search of that once-in-a-lifetime case. Then the internet happened, bringing us search engine optimization, pay per click ads, and social media. Every lawyer I talk to has tried one (or more) of these, but they feel like they’re just throwing money away. And most of the time they are.

Knowing the technical bases for objections is not so difficult. Law school covers that. What is much harder is recognizing a good objection very quickly when your opponent puts a question to a witness or starts using a document. Cues and Signals gives you details on every objection that has been recognized in federal courts and sorts out the high-payoff objections from those of lower priority for both oral testimony and exhibits. Everything you need on objections is in one audiobook.

You can get almost any exhibit admitted in evidence by following a few straight forward guidelines that are explained here. The easiest way to explain how to qualify exhibits is to use excerpts from transcripts - the actual questions asked and answers given - in a proceeding in which an exhibit similar to yours was put into evidence successfully. Each point in this guidance is explained this way. By using these examples, you have the structure for your deposition or trial notes.

Near total waste of time.
I have listened to hundreds of audiobooks and have never felt compelled to leave a negative review. Simply put: do not waste your time or money on this is a self-serving advertisement full of cliche advice. I wouldn’t even say that it would be worth the time if it was free. The cover and description are also misleading because the primary focus is on attorney advertisement via video, so why not just say that somewhere on the cover or description?

Each of the components in this book is delivered with real-life examples that support and foster exactly why they are independently important to a law firm's marketing message and crucial for attorneys and law firms who are looking to stand out above the rest as the obvious choice in their market. Regardless of the type of law practiced, these strategies will get you ahead of your competition.

Entertaining and Powerful
Michael runs Crisp the way I run my law firm - top down excellence and attention to detail. His story and plan to use unique value propositions to create your own niche market and obtain only the best cases is one that most attorneys dance around for years before finally giving up on. Michael makes it accessible and enjoyable to do so if you're willing to put in the work and effort. Listening to the book makes it easier to digest especially in chunks, as it's as if your marketing guru is telling you stories sitting across a coffee table with you. Highly recommended - IF you're serious about your business.

The Permanent Voice on Your Shoulder
Michael Mogill tells the truth about legal marketing. News flash - it's not what you'll hear from a Bar Association or the old guard of your local area. Attorneys are taught nothing about marketing in law school. Even in practice, senior attorneys have little time to teach the associates or junior partners how to build their own book of business. Make no mistake, you can be the best, most proficient, and certified attorney in any specialty you choose. If no one knows about you though, you'll be wondering how to put food on your table. The marketplace is swamped with businesses attempting to get your attention. How can you compete?
In this book, Michael tells you how much of an advantage you have with the Internet. There is no panacea. With the right strategy that is planned out before it begins, any attorney can take on the established practitioners - and win. Yes, the focus of this book will be on the use of video in your marketing plan. Video is just one part of the entire marketing package. After listening to this book, you will have a game plan on how to build your firm through proven marketing strategies that work for any practice area.
I've been using these strategies at my firm for the past year that I've been working with Michael. Our growth has skyrocketed. Our average case value has increased by 5x-10x depending on the practice area. We are continuing to grow.
Success is not a zero sum game. Attorneys know that most of the market is actually underserved with respect to legal assistance. Break out of the mold, be bold, and start listening to this book. Your bottom line will thank you.
