Acerca de esta escucha
Two outstanding Texas trial lawyers - one now an equally respected district judge - have written On the Jury Trial, a “must-have” reference for any trial lawyer aspiring to excellence or seeking to maintain it. Topics include voir dire, opening statement, preparing witnesses, cross examination, using exhibits, closing argument, jury research, and more, with excellent examples and “dos and don’ts” provided throughout. Think of this audiobook as the senior law partner’s memo to associates on how to really try a case.
Looking for fly-on-the-wall insight into world-class trial preparation and strategy? Here it is. A behind-the-scenes tour of the inner workings of the judicial process? This audiobook has you covered. Its combination of advice, illustration, and commentary is every bit as valuable as it is unique. Every litigator should have this audiobook downloaded, no matter the state in which they practice.

You can get almost any exhibit admitted in evidence by following a few straight forward guidelines that are explained here. The easiest way to explain how to qualify exhibits is to use excerpts from transcripts - the actual questions asked and answers given - in a proceeding in which an exhibit similar to yours was put into evidence successfully. Each point in this guidance is explained this way. By using these examples, you have the structure for your deposition or trial notes.

There are two kinds of knowledge law school teaches: legal rules on the one hand, and tools for thinking about legal problems on the other. Although the tools are far more interesting and useful than the rules, they tend to be neglected in favor of other aspects of the curriculum. In The Legal Analyst, Ward Farnsworth brings together in one place all of the most powerful of those tools for thinking about law.

Text document exhibits are subject to the largest number of specialized evidentiary rules. The easiest way to deal with these rules is to consider first the general category into which the exhibit falls: It is either: an original, an exact duplicate with no markings that are not on the original, a "nonconforming" copy that has some markings that are not on the original, a summary of voluminous documents, or an email or other digital file.

MSNBC’s Mehdi Hasan isn’t one to avoid arguments. He relishes them as the lifeblood of democracy and the only surefire way to establish the truth. Arguments help us solve problems, uncover new ideas we might not have considered, and nudge our disagreements toward mutual understanding. A good argument, made in good faith, has intrinsic value—and can also simply be fun.

great book.
there are lots of practical tips that can be applied immediately. I especially like the section on preparing your witness for deposition, but the whole book is excellent.

Succinct, common tactics, with a maddening parrot!
The advice on advocacy is fair enough: quick and clean; after which, the narrator delivers court dialogue, and unnecessarily, and as if to drive us mad, repeats, "Question," "Answer," ad nauseum.
Holy God. Torturous!

Seems good but the robo voice is piercing.
Content is great but something with the voice or recording quality just goes right through me. I can’t listen to it for 8 hours. I just can’t.
