Publisher's Summary

In his powerful book The Fred Factor, motivational speaker Mark Sanborn recounts the true story of Fred, the mail carrier who passionately loves his job and who genuinely cares about the people he serves. Because of that, he is constantly going the extra mile while handling the mail, and sometimes watching over the houses, of the people on his route, treating everyone he meets as a friend. Where others might see delivering mail as monotonous drudgery, Fred sees an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those he serves.

We've all encountered people like Fred in our lives. In The Fred Factor, Mark Sanborn illuminates the simple steps each of us can take to transform our own lives from the ordinary into the extraordinary. Through stories about Fred and others like him, Sanborn reveals four basic "how to" principles that will help us bring fresh energy and creativity to our life and work: how to make a real difference everyday, how to become more successful by building strong relationships, how to create real value for others without spending a penny, and how to constantly reinvent yourself.

By following these principles, and by learning from and teaching other "Freds", you too can excel in your career and make your life extraordinary. As Mark Sanborn makes clear, each of us has the potential be a Fred. The Fred Factor shows you how.

Pure genius

This book was so uplifting and filled with fantastic wisdom about reconnecting with your own values. The main premise was remaining true to the things that are important to you, despite the conditions you are sometimes faced with - like coming into contact with challenging customers, beauracracy within your organisation, restrictive policies and procedures, and team mates who don't want to play team. If a postal worker can inspire people and deliver them amazing, personalised and touching service, I'm pretty sure I can too.

What we all should strive for

The Fred Factor is on my must read list. This book provides insightful knowledge of customer service based on the simple Fred character. The story is basic but the thought that centers on each of the key points of the book are extremely deep. I enjoyed listening to this book and would highly recommend it to anyone who has to help motivating teams to “take care of the customer”.

Short, Inspiring Book

Would you listen to The Fred Factor again? Why?

I may listen to it again in the future as a refresher, I will definitely share it with colleagues.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Fred took the time to hide the box not delivered by him. That care, attention to detail and going above and beyond has fallen to the side.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

When passion takes ordinary to extraordinary.

Any additional comments?

For anyone in the service industry this is a must read.

Background Music Ruins Audible Experience

I purchased the audible version so I could listen in my car during my 2 hr daily commute however the background music playing during the reading is so loud and distracting that I can’t hear or focus on the words. FAIL!!
