Publisher's Summary

What do you do when you can't control your feelings for someone? When you know you shouldn't go there? Not even in your head.

Annie has never experienced the 'spark' with a guy - the kind of instant chemistry that steals your breath and blindsides you completely. Until a night out with friends brings her face to face with the wickedly sexy and mysterious Jack. It's not just a spark that ignites between them. It's an explosion. Jack promises to consume Annie, and he fully delivers on that promise.

Overwhelmed by the intensity of their one night together, Annie slips out of their hotel room. She is certain that a man who's had such a powerful impact on her and who could bend her to his will so easily must be dangerous. But she's already in too deep. And Jack isn't only dangerous. He is forbidden.

More like The Everyday.

I’m a huge JEM fan, but I think ever since she’s made it big, it doen’t matter what she writes. Annie meets Jack in a bar, there’s a few lines of banter, and then they have sex. But wait...he’s married. She finds out, he said it’s the first time. His wife is a bitch, and controlling. Isn’t that what they all say.

Well anyway, they continue their affair for months. And then I become too bored in the story and never finished. The narrator was bad, and I didn’t even recognize this as a JEM novel. I felt no chemistry in these two characters.

Disappointed

I couldn't wait for this book and then I was let down by the narrator's voice she sounded so childish and girly , I liked the premise of the story even if it was sooo predictable. There was even parts that reminded me of 'this man trilogy' (loved being on central cloud 9). But this was boring. I still love Jody Ellen so keep writing

Love the story, but..

Jodi Ellen always does a great job with her writing and characters. This particular storyline is realistic and I appreciate her tackling this "Forbidden" topic. The only reason I only give four stars is because of the following.
Why do all the heroines, at some point, lose control of bodily function and can't move their legs or speak. It's either they're so enamored with a man they've just met or because some dangerous or traumatic event. Please give your female characters a bit more gumption, or is that the way British women actually respond to unexpected, emergencies or dangerous events. Whatever happened to Fight or Flight,? Is that not a thing in Britain? Anyway, I do enjoy the books and the way they allow you to become apart of a different life.

Mixed Emotions

What did you love best about The Forbidden?

The writing, Jodi Ellen Malpas did a great job as she always does.

What other book might you compare The Forbidden to and why?

Not sure...I can't really think of any.

What does Julie Garthan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She did a great job narrating the book. And did a great job with the voices of the characters.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes and no as I had mixed emotions on the book.

Any additional comments?

This book deals with infidelity. You understand why as you go along with the book but still I battled my feelings on loving the hero and heroine.

Real life fairytale!

We can’t help who we fall in love with, and this book puts real situations into spectrum. Abuse happens everyday, and no one should be forced to live that life, marriage or not. Jack was saved, and Annie too, by each other! Loved this book!!! Bravo 👏🏼👏🏼

Loved this Beautiful story.

All the struggle and strife.. All the emotional turmoil..
All the love.. Love is not always conventional. Life is not always convenient. But true love is worth the fight.. Great narration.

Disappointed

I don’t usually write reviews, but I felt compelled to express my disappointment in this book. I absolutely loved the This Man series and eagerly anticipated listening to another Jodi Ellen Malpas book. However, this book was not the same. After listening to it for a chapter or two, I stopped, took a break, and then tried it again. I still couldn’t keep going.

Love in its rawest, truest form

This was a re-read for me, first time in audio. And I enjoyed it as much the second time as I did the first. It’s easy to judge and I found myself doing just that as I re-read the book. It’s also easy to see how love can rule not just the heart but the mind. Would you do just about anything for love, even if it’s out of character and something you never believed you were capable of. It’s not an easy question to answer and a very personal one at that. But The Forbidden was simply love in its rawest, truest form.

New spin on an old topic

I can always count on Jodi Ellen Malpas not to be just a every day romance story and this is no exception. This gets into a tough subject, would there ever be a reason to take someone else's spouse. Instantly you would probably say "of course not" but things are not always as they seem. Worth spending a credit to listen.
