Publisher's Summary

A New York Times best seller.

From former football player and star of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette comes a fascinating and eye-opening behind-the-scenes look at his drama-filled season on the hit reality show.

Before Colton Underwood captured the hearts of millions on The Bachelor, he was a goofy, socially awkward, overweight adolescent who succeeded on the football field while struggling with personal insecurities off it. An All American gridiron hero, he was also a complex, sometimes confused, soft-hearted romantic wondering how these contradictions fit together. Old-fashioned and out of step with the swipe-right dating culture of today, he was saving the most intimate part of life for the love of his life. If only he could find her....

Now, in The First Time, Colton opens up about how he came to find himself and true love at the same time via the Bachelor franchise. Unencumbered by cameras and commercial breaks, he delivers a surprisingly raw, endearing, and seriously juicy account of his journey through The Bachelorette, Bachelor in Paradise, and The Bachelor, along with what has happened with him and Cassie Randolph since his season wrapped. He opens up about being dumped by Becca, his secret dalliance with Tia, what it was like to be the world’s most famous virgin, his behind-the-scenes conflicts with production, and how his on-camera responsibilities as The Bachelor nearly destroyed him after he knew he had already fallen in love with Cassie.

A memoir for Bachelor Nation and anyone who believes in the magic of love, The First Time carries a simple but powerful message: It’s okay to laugh and cry and occasionally jump over a fence, if it means coming one step closer to the right person.

Disappointing

I love the Bachelor show and I really liked Colton as the bachelor but this book was very dissatisfying...it was a boring story to be honest. Nothing to keep you engaged except that you hope he spills the beans on some of the behind the scenes drama of the show, which he doesn’t. It’s nothing you can’t learn from reading the articles trying to promote his book. It wasn’t worth my time unfortunately.

NFL insider's view Inside scoop on Bachelor 👍

I was surprised on how well this was written and how well Colton's voice just draws you in. Easy fun listen. Sports fans will be entertained by the insider view of getting in the NFL as well as his experience there as well as background on how the bachelor works. Colton is relatable and this book is surprisingly motivational. Absolutely loved it, worth reading and very insightful. Well done Colton.

Great book!

I really loved this book. The only bad part is there needs to be a chapter about the break up.

Not the best

Boring. Seemed a little self-centered. Maybe for some, but personally just not my favorite.

Colton’s Wiki Page

I appreciate Colton’s courage he had to put himself out there with his story, but most of the story was facts we already knew about him and he was listing them.... His football stats + the order of elimination on his season

Such honesty

You can tell Colton spoke from his heart with honesty. I started watching the bachelor/ bachelorette during his season and I was so happy to be able to read/ hear behind the scenes. Really happy I decided to buy this one!

Nothing you didn’t see on the show

I enjoy a good love story but I was thinking the tell all would include more than what we’ve already /seen in news. Still rooting for Colten and Cassie but book was just okay.
