Publisher's summary

With a new afterword about Colton’s battle with Covid-19 and breakup, this New York Times best seller from former football player and star of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette is “full of the kind of juicy details ‘The Bachelor’ franchise enthusiasts yearn for” (HuffPost).

Before Colton Underwood captured the hearts of millions on The Bachelor, he was a goofy, socially awkward, overweight adolescent who succeeded on the football field while struggling with personal insecurities off it. An All-American gridiron hero, he was also a complex, sometimes confused, soft-hearted romantic wondering how these contradictions fit together. Old-fashioned and out of step with the swipe right dating culture of today, he was saving the most intimate part of life for the love of his life. If only he could find her....

Now, in The First Time, Colton opens up about how he came to find himself and true love at the same time via the Bachelor franchise. Unencumbered by cameras and commercial breaks, he delivers a surprisingly raw, endearing, and seriously juicy account of his journey through The Bachelorette, Bachelor in Paradise, and The Bachelor. He opens up about being dumped by Becca, his secret dalliance with Tia, what it was like to be the world’s most famous virgin, his behind-the-scenes conflicts with production, and how his on-camera responsibilities as the Bachelor nearly destroyed him after he knew he had already fallen in love with Cassie.

A memoir for Bachelor Nation and anyone who believes in the magic of love, The First Time “is a thoughtful exploration into what it means to discover oneself” (USA Today).

Disappointing

I love the Bachelor show and I really liked Colton as the bachelor but this book was very dissatisfying...it was a boring story to be honest. Nothing to keep you engaged except that you hope he spills the beans on some of the behind the scenes drama of the show, which he doesn’t. It’s nothing you can’t learn from reading the articles trying to promote his book. It wasn’t worth my time unfortunately.

NFL insider's view Inside scoop on Bachelor 👍

I was surprised on how well this was written and how well Colton's voice just draws you in. Easy fun listen. Sports fans will be entertained by the insider view of getting in the NFL as well as his experience there as well as background on how the bachelor works. Colton is relatable and this book is surprisingly motivational. Absolutely loved it, worth reading and very insightful. Well done Colton.

Read “ My life on the line” by Ryan O’ Callaghan instead

Watch the season again and save your money, I kept hoping Cass’ question was “ How do you know you are not GAY?” My son is gay and never would get a “high riser” frolicking in the water with a woman. This is ridiculous! Read “ My life on the line” ( a true NFL former player)if you want a book with actual substance on an important topic. It’s not even mentioned in this.

Kinda awful

Kinda awful. Read with a monotone so don't listen while driving or using heavy machinery. And now to think he was "acting" through the whole thing. Whatevs. Line the parrot cage with it.

ok for a fake Instagram or facebook story

Its an ok story if you want a fake insta story, that is fake and make believe and trys to feed the reader a bunch of bullshit there was nothing real about this story except for the fact that he is obsessed with this poor girl.

Great book!

I really loved this book. The only bad part is there needs to be a chapter about the break up.

I feel stupider for having listened to this book. It’s seriously bad. Don’t waste your time.

Not the best

Boring. Seemed a little self-centered. Maybe for some, but personally just not my favorite.

Colton’s Wiki Page

I appreciate Colton’s courage he had to put himself out there with his story, but most of the story was facts we already knew about him and he was listing them.... His football stats + the order of elimination on his season
