This is where the series just falls apart.

Spoilers ahead.
This author has a fetish for the undead. I’ve listened to other works. Things in the book simply fell apart. Part of the issue is the characters just got too powerful too fast and there was no where to go with it. The dark gods fight was disappointing. The family resolution was dissatisfying. There are characters who just seem to get lost and aren’t spoken of. And then at the end let’s create dragons because why not? This book definitely feels Ike a money grab more than a story worth reading.

Amazing ending? No. Stupidity.

I dislike stories where the author compels the character to act in an irrational manner. Punishment for heroic services given is injustice. Giving in to self-seeking lords who want political gains instead of justice only weakens a political system. If the author considers his subsequent works darker, one wonders how twisted they must be. The equivalent of demonic possession and being forced to kill thousands is dark enough. Anything darker is needless gratuity.

On a sidenote, I also dislike authors who give the villain no redeeming character traits. The author’s characterization of the traitor was almost enough to make me put down the book. I could almost wish I had.

Excellent series

I really enjoyed the series. A well written complex series with plenty of surprises and with a solid magic system…

Good end to this series

I have to admit that I’ve been listening to a lot of books and I feel like none of them are complete. Therefore, I’m always excited when I can call a series complete and even better when it doesn’t get all screwed up at the end.

It can get confusing at times for the MC with his dual personas and I’m still not sure about all the aspects of what went on, but it’s definitely a satisfying conclusion with doors left open to continue the world if he so chooses.

Loved it

Much better ending than AOE! Hope the author fixes it with the sequel series. In the mean time, looking forward to the prequel of this series!

Great ending to the series. Better than ending of Art of the Adept

This fifth book in the series ended it very well. Of course, there is one characters that said, I had hoped, would be reversed by the end in some magical way, but despite that it was a much better ending in the fifth book of The Art of the Adept series which left me thoroughly unsatisfied. I wish this author will add a sixth book in that series.

I liked it.

I hope that the author expands on this world that he’s built it would be a shame to not delve deeper into the lore.
