Publisher's summary

Dorothy Graham is dead, which is inconvenient, not least for her. Luckily, she has planned for this eventuality. Now, if any of the truly dreadful people she is related to want to get their hands on her money, they’re going to have to do so via a fiendish difficult and frankly bizarre competition of Dorothy’s devising. After all, just because you’re dead, it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a last laugh at the expense of people who made your life miserable.

Paul Mulchrone, to his unending credit, is neither related to Dorothy or happy that she is dead; What he is however is a contestant in this competition whether he likes it or not, which he definitely doesn’t. He and his off-again on-again girlfriend, the formidable Brigit, are supposed to be running MCM Investigations, a detective agency. Instead, they have to go into battle against Dorothy’s bloodsucking relatives. As if that wasn’t enough, they get hired by the aforementioned dead woman to find out who killed her.

DI Jimmy Stewart is enjoying his retirement - in the sense that he definitely isn’t. He is bored out of his mind. When the offer comes to get back into the crime solving business, it is too good to turn down. But when he finds himself teamed up with the nephew of a man he threw in prison, and a flatulent dog, he starts to think that taking up lawn bowls wouldn't be such a bad idea after all.

The Final Game is a stand-alone crime novel perfect for listeners new to Caimh McDonnell’s blackly comic take on his hometown, as featured in the international best-selling Dublin Trilogy books. His previous works have been optioned for TV and nominated for awards, which they somehow keep managing not to win.

Hilarious

Such a delight. I wondered if the cast of Dublin characters could carry a full book without Bunny, and not only did they succeed but I’d love to hear more from this end of McGarry World. Laughed out loud and loved every one of the characters. Sadly I’m out of real estate in my two week Bunny Binge. Hope there will be lots more to come.

Too Clever and Tedious

I made it through only an hour and seven minutes...WAY too clever and cliche. I don't think I made it to the main plot...can't take any more. Narrator is qualified, however not the right choice for this...sounds a bit snarky...and his Korean character, Johnny, sounds just like the Kim Jong Il character in "Team America" (if you've seen that movie), for what that's worth, and all his female characters sound like gay men.

I will be asking audible for an exchange.

Great writing, laugh out loud moments, twisty plot

The main characters are lovable, and the twisty situations they get into kept me smiling and laughing. The writing is top-notch and narration is excellent. Listening to this cheered me up and put me in a good mood.

A wildy entertaining and witty read.

The performance of the narrator is fantastic! The story is engaging with just the right amount of twists, turns, and interesting characters. Jimmy and Phil are my favorite this go around! I sincerely hope that it is made into a movie they make absolutely certain they don't ruin it. This whole trilogy has taken the number 1 favorite of all time spot!!! Hurry up...... go read it, you'll love it!

Laugh out loud funny with a warm heart

I have more than 500 audiobooks in my collection and there are not many that have me guffawing away as I do housework. This one does. It is the literary equivalent of slapstick but with no meanness of spirit. Loved the sly parody of “self-styled social media influencers!” Who on earth would ever be influenced in any by those people, other than to do the opposite of what they do? But I digress. This is a hilarious book well worth your time.

Best installment of all

I love me some Bunny, but this is my favorite story so far. Funny, twisty, and smart. I urge you to listen.

Love it!!

I’ve loved all of Caimh McDonnell’s books and this one was as funny and quirky as his Dublin Trilogy.

I laughed out loud!

I’m a Bunny McGarry fan, but I do love Bridgett and Pauly. Narration is always spot on and fluent in funny.

Hilarious, best of the investigation series.

I caught myself laughing in out loud in the grocery store while listening to this book. It's a book I always listen to when life gets me down.

Fun and likable, but not stranger times.

The only other works by this author, I have listen to you is the stranger times series. Which absolutely delights me. The narrator for that is out of this world, and to be fair, he is a rare talent. I recommend this book, but it did not tickle me in the way that stranger times series did.
