One of Amazon's Best Audiobooks of 2019
Star FBI detective Amos Decker and his colleague Alex Jamison must solve four increasingly bizarre murders in a dying rust belt town--and the closer they come to the truth, the deadlier it gets in this rapid-fire #1 New York Times bestseller.

Something sinister is going on in Baronville. The rust belt town has seen four bizarre murders in the space of two weeks. Cryptic clues left at the scenes--obscure bible verses, odd symbols--have the police stumped.

Amos Decker and his FBI colleague Alex Jamison are in Baronville visiting Alex's sister and her family. It's a bleak place: a former mill and mining town with a crumbling economy and rampant opioid addiction. Decker has only been there a few hours when he stumbles on a horrific double murder scene.

Then the next killing hits sickeningly close to home. And with the lives of people he cares about suddenly hanging in the balance, Decker begins to realize that the recent string of deaths may be only one small piece of a much larger scheme--with consequences that will reach far beyond Baronville.

Decker, with his singular talents, may be the only one who can crack this bizarre case. Only this time--when one mistake could cost him everything--Decker finds that his previously infallible memory may not be so trustworthy after all...

Reseñas de la Crítica

"Baldacci is a wonderful storyteller, and he incorporates wonderful characters into baffling conspiracies. ...he takes on small-town America, capturing both good and bad elements. He demonstrates why these small towns are worth saving. It's a theme he has explored before, but it still has potency and relevance."—Associated Press
"The pace picks up considerably with each passing chapter until the inevitable ending that most surely will deliver a resolution at about the same time you are catching your breath."—BookReporter.com
"Amos Decker shines again. . . The Fallen is David Baldacci at his very best."—The Real Book Spy
"Amos Decker novels just keep getting better and better, and it's partly due to the careful in-depth characterization Baldacci gives his main character."—New York Journal of Books

I wasn’t a fan of the first installment of this series but it gets better.
Amos is getting used to his “talents” and then they falter. Nice to hear his thoughts about a little girl, not his own. His partner is now, used to his talents as well.
Small Town America with more drug problems than large cities. Not too violent, very little cursing and a well woven story.
I am now happy to know Amos Decker.
Narration is done well. Brewer and Cassidy do a fine job. It’s not not car crashes and blood, a slow developing story but worth the time.

Getting better and better

I recommend. Amos Decker and his partner. thought they were on a vacation. Two dead bodies lead them to discover how corrupt the town was. Murder, drugs and a cold case.

Well written, fast paced plausible storyline.

It's worth the listen. But the female narrator has gotten somewhat ridiculous in that she has literally three voices she is able to use to represent characters. 1)Fast talker, 2)southern accent tough girl, and now apparently 3.) Child. She good with inflection but after 3 prior Decker novels it's getting tiresome. Also, the stories have become more rushed in my opinion and definitely more sensational. Less character development was very big in this book and Jameson seems like a sidelined character. I do like how he expanded on some internal struggles Decker is facing, but leaving Jameson on the sideline and including these characters we couldn't care less about in their place seemed foolish and the story much less plausible. All in all, still a good story but understand before you buy this one that it is WAY MORE sensational and much more "fictional" and less believable than his prior works. Feels cheap like a Koontz novel with too much unbelievable hype. I feel that Baldacci did this same type of spiral with the Camel Club series, and while it provides a fast entertaining read, it also leaves me literally barely caring about the ending or the characters and I'm half listening throughout the ending. You can go far fetched and still make it a very good read (i.e. Angels and Demons) but you've got to make ALL characters loved and holding you. This was far and above the worst in the series with Decker.

Good story, but feels cheaper than before
