No Red Herrings Here!

As a homeschool mom, I've used a LOT of curriculum -- of varying quality. Logic was a challenge -- until we found The Fallacy Detective! It's just amazing -- everything you need to know about thinking clearly, in an engaging format that makes learning truly fun. Kids and adults can all find something to love -- and learn -- here. Highly recommend in both print and audio. A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

A favorite among students

My students look forward to this every week. The book is written in a engaging and humorous way making it hard to just cover a couple of chapters at a time. You'll find yourself not wanting to put it down. It's not long and you'll see your students picking out the different fallacies they hear in the news or in ads.

DELIGHTED with the new Audio version!

Our family is absolutely DELIGHTED to have The Fallacy Detective available as an Audio book! We have 5 children and the oldest two completed The Fallacy Detective and it's companion book, The Thinking Toolbox, prior to having the audio book. The next two are about half way through The Fallacy Detective and are now listening to the audio version and reading along. We're continuing to enjoy having our children learn how to identify different fallacies used in advertising, politics, news stories, etc. to sway opinions. This is a great tool to helping your teen to be a critical thinker!

Highly Recommend

I would highly recommend this book to anyone so that you are able to identify the fallacies we encounter on a daily basis. The audio of The Fallacy Detective gave me an opportunity to follow along the book. The combination of reading along and listening helps keep your mind from wandering and stay focused on the topic. One of the biggest benefits of the audio is hearing the correct pronunciation of words such as "Tu Quoque". It's amazing how often you hear the fallacies identified in this book come out during the election year.

outstanding content and teaching methodology!

The authors use great examples to illustrate the fallacies and all the topics covered in the book. I recommend using the audible book along with the paperback, or hardcover book. There are excellent cartoons in the book that help illustrate the key points. I highly recommend the audible version and the book.

This Is No Red Herring

My 10-year old enjoyed listening to this book, much to my surprise and pleasure. The reader has a pleasant voice and makes the words easy to hear. The author makes the subject easy to understand. It has been enlightening to discuss the individual lessons with my 10-year old: he understands some of the examples that I don’t!! The Audible App format makes it easy to rewind so one can listen to explanations and examples more than once when needed. I haven’t yet tried listening to and reading the physical book—I am looking forward to trying that.

Educational and fun

This book is a great introduction to logic, using easy-to-understand and funny examples. My original goal in learning about fallacies was to be able to spot inconsistencies in real life. Whenever I listened in the car, to my surprise, even my 4th graders would pay attention and eagerly join in trying to answer the questions at the end of each chapter. It was my children's idea to make up fallacies for each other to analyze. We shared a lot of laughs and learned so much in the process. The narrator of the audiobook was easy to understand and did a great job with voices. Each chapter is short and easy to digest. I'm so glad we have this resource!

Beautifully done

The Fallacy Detective is a beautifully done book. My family and I enjoyed listening together, which is a really high compliment from me. I am very particular about materials I use with my homeschool and I was very pleasantly surprised when we listened to The Fallacy Detective. The narrator does a marvelous job and his voice and tone are pleasing as we listen. The content led to great discussion in our lessons and we are still discussing and planning on further exploration of the materials discussed. I love that this opened up an area of deep learning and allows for continuing our learning in the future. I recommend this book to any family that hopes to create an open dialogue with their children about topics of importance and interest.

Fascinating fallacies

Really good useful information and examples provided by a good narrator. sometimes difficult to remember all the different types of fallacies and their names. Enjoyed it a lot well recommended.

Everyone's reading it, you should too otherwise you might get hit by lightening and starving children in fangdolia might not get their next meal. The audiobook uses highly advanced barb nanotechnology to give you tried and trusted information gathered over millions of seconds.

Be one of the select few to be better than everyone else you know by listening to this audiobook.
