All they’d have to do is crush the competition, win the huge cash prize and all of Holden’s problems—his broken heart, his buried grief, his complete lack of money and direction—will be fixed.

Of course, reality doesn’t quite work out that way. But love is an entirely different game…

Cute story., quick listen .

This was a really cute story, it was a quick listen. The plot in the story made sense and the spice was really good. I give it about three chili peppers.

Absolutely loved this! Sweet and fun - and I loved that the characters actually communicated (most of the time anyway). My only complaint is on the cover their shirts are blue instead of purple! lol

Real character growth but financial frustrations

Overall I liked this book a lot. Naive, grieving and financially challenged Holden going to LA to strike it rich on a grocery game show was a fun premise. Local guy Leo coming to his rescue and their love story was refreshing and endearing. I did not expect Holden would realize that he needed to do some healing on his own, and I applaud that healthy choice. Where I got flung out of the story was on some of the financial choices at the very end. I actually had to stop listening and talk it through with someone so that I could mentally edit enough to go back to the book. Accepting a gift and simply being grateful for that gift I think shows more emotional maturity than having to repay every penny and never be "in someone's debt". And being generous to a charity can be done for a few hundred to a thousand dollars - after all the ways the author masterfully wove the reality of financial worries into the entire novel, I was surprised that Holden would be generous to the point of self-destructive. And don't get me started on a generous check that may or may not ever be found and cashed - he's supposed to just keep that money in his account forever just in case??? Insanity. Ok, that's me venting but overall it was a sweet story. They found each other exactly when they needed one another and made each other's lives better. Isn't that what we all want in a romance?

Would Be a Great Movie

If you love a good rom-com, this is perfect! It’s a mistakingly love story where everything that should be wrong is right. Leo is very loveable. Holden, all though depressed, shows a fun side on who he should’ve been if he’d dealt with the passing of his Mother sooner. You will love this book.
