#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • John Grisham delivers high-flying international suspense in a stunning legal thriller that marks the return of Mitch McDeere, the brilliant hero of The Firm.

“A breathtaking update on the McDeeres and the life they made . . . Grisham, in vintage form, ratchets up the suspense in this winning sequel.” —The Wall Street Journal

What became of Mitch and Abby McDeere after they exposed the crimes of Memphis law firm Bendini, Lambert & Locke and fled the country? The answer is found in The Exchange, the riveting sequel to The Firm, the blockbuster thriller that launched the career of America’s favorite storyteller.

It is now fifteen years later, and Mitch and Abby are living in Manhattan, where Mitch is a partner at the largest law firm in the world. When a mentor in Rome asks him for a favor that will take him as far as Istanbul and Tripoli, Mitch finds himself at the center of a sinister plot that has worldwide implications. Once again Mitch’s colleagues, friends, and family are targeted. Mitch is a master at staying one staying one step ahead of his adversaries, but this time there’s nowhere to hide.

Look for John Grisham’s forthcoming legal thriller, The Widow. This time, the verdict isn’t the end of the story.

Editorial Review

The long-awaited sequel to The Firm does not disappoint
Edoardo Ballerini delivers a suspense-filled performance of this sequel to John Grisham’s bestselling 1991 novel (and the 1993 film starring Tom Cruise), The Firm. It’s been 15 years since Mitch and Abby McDeere fled Memphis. They’re now living in Manhattan with their 8-year-old twin sons, and Mitch is a partner at one of New York’s biggest law firms. When a colleague is kidnapped in Libya, Mitch must navigate international intrigue to thwart the impending execution and come up with the staggering $100 million ransom. Ballerini’s taut narration pairs well with Grisham’s short chapters, perfectly building up the urgency of the story’s drama for a thrilling, pulse-pounding listen. —Margaret H., Audible Editor

I’m a big Grisham fan - though this was a frustrating book. The whole plot focused on efforts to raise $100 million to pay the ransom for a single hostage…and the law firm was greedy by only chipping in $10 million. ??? None of it seemed logical - and the ending was boring!

Flat. No twists no surprises. Very disappointed. Did Grisham write this? I should send it back

I'm a fan of Mr. Grisham in general, but I have listened to two of his recent books that I was not a fan of. In this book, he attempts to resurrect Mitch McDeer from The Firm, but he should not have bothered. The story is boring and has nothing to do with the Mitch we loved before. In the beginning, he wastes time having Mitch consider a case in Memphis (which would make sense and be more interesting), but he doesn't end up with the case. So then, there a whole new plot about a kidnapping of someone we don't get to know and really don't care about. The case involve's Mitch's wife, for no explainable reason, except to add personal crisis. Grisham writes well and is a good storyteller, but if you want a more familiar style, check out The Whistler and The Judge's List, which are both reminiscent of Grisham's Interesting characters and plots.

Don't Bother

Was anticipating a wild ending, but was left unsatisfied. First time I was disappointed by a Grisham book. Still a huge fan, but this one was a flop.

Not Grisham’s best product

I was excited to learn what our protagonist has been up to over the years, and indeed we did learn that. However, I thought his past would be used more in this book. After all, why bring him back after so many years? I still don't know the answer to that question because his past, while referenced, was left there. In the past. I am disappointed.

Edoardo Ballerina is a fair narrator; however, every single word spoken by every character is said with the same dramatic slant. If someone is waking up to get coffee, he/she might as well be running from the russians. It gets very old very quick.

If you can't find anything else to buy, then use a credit on this. Otherwise, skip it.
