Sometimes, formidable challenges can seem impossible.
Sometimes, you can forget what you’ve done and what you’re capable of.
Sometimes, doubt can attack you like a virus and leave you questioning your worth.
Sometimes….And then sometimes, when things seem like they can’t get any worse, you find yourself. You find the person, the friend, the sister, the warrior you know you can be.
Sometimes, when things seem their bleakest, you find strength you didn’t even know you possessed.
For Wren, Robyn and Mila, sometimes might just be today.

Wren, Robyn, Wolf and Mila, along with some newfound friends, are on their way back to the Priory after their previous adventures when Wren disappears! Of course, Robyn has to go after her and they soon discover that there are more survivors in the area. Knowing this group, you just know that they are going to try to rescue them. These girls have proven that they are selfless and don't seem to know the meaning of "It can't be done!"
There is plenty of zombie action, a few gruesome deaths and tons of emotion. I enjoyed the revisiting of things from the previous books and the glimpse into Robyn and Wren's past. The author also manages to bring some unique things into this book with the inclusion of a character suffering from Alzheimer's and her niece's struggle to keep her Auntie safe. It really makes you think about the challenges that would occur in a true apocalyptic event when dealing with someone with illness or disability.
Mr. Artinian brings the characters to life with their discussions of why they continue to put themselves in danger to help others. I also enjoyed the usual snark between the girls and the wimpiness/complaining of some of the rescued characters. I'm afraid that I would be among that group! We also learn some amazing coincidences about these new characters and I look forward to learning more about those connections!
The narrator, Kim Bretton, continues to amaze me with her performances. How she is able to keep so many different voices separated in such a way that you can picture them as you listen is beyond belief. Between the amazing story, great characters and wonderful narration, this continues to be one of my favorite series!
