Publisher's summary

Nicholas Flamel appeared in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter - but did you know he really lived? And his secrets aren't safe! Discover the truth in book six of Michael Scott’s New York Times best-selling series the Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel. The Location: The home of the Elders. The Time: The last day of Nicholas and Perenelle Flamel's long existence.

The two that are one must become the one that is all. One to save the world, one to destroy it.

Sophie and Josh Newman traveled 10,000 years into the past following Dr. John Dee and Virginia Dare to the home of the Elders at Danu Talis. But this is no ordinary island - it is the legendary city of Atlantis, and Scathach, Prometheus, Palamedes, Shakespeare, Saint-Germain, and Joan of Arc are also there.

Here, as the Flamels take their final breaths, the battle for the world begins and ends. Except no one is sure what - or who - the twins will be fighting for.

An epic conclusion.

This book was simply amazing and a very stunning conclusion to a series that I found myself addicted to since the first book. I find myself rather melancholy at knowing that this is the last book in the series, but I was pleased with the way it ended.

Many questions had been raised throughout the series, and all of them were answered in this last book. I was not disappointed in the way this book ended at all. I could see myself listening to this series again.

One of my favorite things about this book though was the character development. Throughout the other books, I had always wondered just what would become of some characters. I was shocked several times by the way some characters developed, though it was never a bad shock. All in all, this book was very much worth the money I spent, and the time I took to listen to it. I had a very hard time putting this one down. I was entirely riveted.

A Staggering Disappointment

You know, you listen to five books, to the adventures, the twists and the turns and sometimes you just want to scream at the author at the sixth. I could not have believed that Scott would finish in such a poor, unenlightened, uninspired way. I am heartsick with disappointment. If that is not enough, the ending just doesn’t hold with the universe that Scott himself created begging numerous questions and leaving unforgivable gaffs. Just too bad!

Interesting cast of characters/juvenile prose

I just finished the series. I had to keep reminding myself that this book is written for teens. The characters are fun to put together (Prometheus and Shakespeare for example).

The whole time loop concept is problematic for any writer and has never been done well by any of them. After all a story is based on the assumption of causation and once you break that assumption it is difficult to care about what happens to a character. If they die in one time line and live is another then why struggle over past events?

The main problem in this book is prose. I thought I might be sick if I heard one more repetition of someone drawing a "deep shuddering breath". all characters are constantly a a point of nervous collapse. The exaggerated emotional state of the characters forced me to keep repeating to myself that this book is written for the adolescent personality. I think the author should give the young reader more credit and apply a bit more subtlety.

My wife and I eventually finished the book only because we had read the others and wanted to see how things worked out.

If I had it to do over again I would not have started this series.

Fun!!

A very fun and exciting read.... I'm hoping there will be more in this series to follow... It's fun to follow the twins... But I guess when it's over, it's over...

It's over? Yay!!

Any additional comments?

This series started off strong and then ran out of gas two books ago. A creative ending to an average series.

Enthralling

Would you consider the audio edition of The Enchantress to be better than the print version?

Yes, it's well narrarated.

What did you like best about this story?

It enourages readers to look for the best in people.

What does Paul Boehmer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He keeps certain described accents intact and differeciates the characters by the specific voices he invents for them. I tend to lose track of who is talking sometimes when reading though I rarely take time to read anymore. I am a slow reader. I tend to dither on details.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, it was the conclusion, and I was captivated by every word. I think it was one of the best.

Any additional comments?

While I think this was a wildly fantastic story in a slightly negative way, I sure did enjoy the ride!

Started out great...

Would you be willing to try another book from Michael Scott? Why or why not?

Probably not. This series dragged on for two books more than necessary. By the fifth book, I didn't even care what happened next. I just wanted it to be over already.

What does Paul Boehmer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I only listened to the last two books to see how the story would end, and since it was an audio book, I could carry on with work, etc, while listening. Unfortunately, I caught myself losing focus constantly in the last book because the storyline was so slow and uninteresting.

Could you see The Enchantress being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No. It had possibilities of greatness, but the story died in the last book.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed the first four books. The intermingling of mythology and modern day cities was interesting. If I had never read the last two books, I wouldn't have missed out on anything. The last book felt scattered and forced.

Great Book Great Series!!

Terrible Narrator! The series itself is fun, the end is a bit underwhelming, and leaves some plot holes. But overall it's a good book. The narrator should have been check he mispronounces everything and his accents are terrible!

a journey that lasts a little to long.

It was a great story in all, it was a little redundant , but great over all. The ending could have been a little better in my opinion .
