The Emerald Queen: A Legends of Ansu Fantasy, my sixth read from author J.W. Webb. Great characters, non-stop action, a great read/listen, my first read not about Corin an Fol, but written in the same style. I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing. Andrew McDermott’s excellent narration & accent again add to the book's enjoyment. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

GOOD READ!

This story and the tales included in the series follow many fantasy tropes, but, it does not follow the usual story outline. Plot armor is there.... but has its limits and variances. Definitely makes me want to follow all the way to the end of the Ansu series and explore all the side worlds you've built. To be fair, I listened to the entire Corin an Fall series first, then almost thought this would be the last side story I listened to in the first half, but, you hooked me. What a journey!! Thanks so much!!

Not an everyday fantasy

I liked this book so much, and I'm loving the rest of the trilogy! It's like a fever dream, Fantasy themed Doctor Who episode inside a Scooby-Doo Doo mansion haha. I really like how unique the story is. I think I would've had an easier time keeping all the storylines straight if I was reading the book instead of listening, but it was an excellent listen regardless, and a super interesting, convoluted plot! I'm on the 2nd book of the trilogy now, and I like that it's filling in some of the details I wished for from the ending of the Corin Chronicles. I wasn't quite ready to let the characters go after those books, so this trilogy is making my day!

The narrator isn't my favorite (the voice he uses for the male lead just makes them sound so unintelligent), but he's MUCH better in these later books than in the Corin Chronicles.
