In 2059, two vastly different groups of people portrayed by the compelling trio of Brendan Fraser (Academy Award winner), Luke Kirby (Emmy Award winner), and Vanessa Sears (Dora Award winner) undergo cryonic suspension. While their bodies are frozen, their minds, still active and awake, are uploaded into a massive quantum computer. The first group are all astronauts, about to leave Earth on a one-way interstellar colonization mission. The second group consists of convicted murderers and volunteers who elect to serve their sentences in a virtual-reality prison. But while both groups are suspended, a global cataclysm devastates most of the Earth, and their cryosleep is extended by more than 500 years.

If you have seen the poor ratings due to "The Agendas" of this book, allow me to help. Here are the ones in particular that those people are probably mad about (Spoilers Below):

1. The person that is meant to be in charge is a strong black female, and it doesn't let that go unnoticed. (Oh no, Heaven forbid we shed light on that very real situation.)

2. There is a trans woman in the book, and it heavily discusses the injustices against her. (So if you're a bigot, you won't like that. Please see yourself out.)

3. The whole book discusses human nature and the inherently good, bad, and ugly of it all. (Some people just hate to be reminded that humanity isn't star-spangled awesome. Bummer.)

If those ideas don't bother you, you won't notice them as much, and you'll enjoy this series. Brendan Fraser does an awesome job, as does the rest of the cast. I'll be honest, I started this series to help celebrate Fraser's amazing comeback into the spotlight. I wasn't disappointed! I hate that I went through this series so fast. I want more!

HiddenAgenda? Maybe. Worth the Listen? Absolutely.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I listened to this while I waited on my credit to replenish for the month and I was pleasantly surprised. I’m a huge sci-fi fan so this was right up my alley. The voice acting was very well done. The characters were pretty well developed. I also loved the ending.

I see over and over a few snowflakes weep and gnash plaque-riddled teeth about “woke” ideologies and things being “political” in this story. Just like you guys tell everyone else…if you don’t like it, create your own stories and works to suit your “conservative” tastes that will allow you to stay in your bubble. Idk…cry about it, seethe, mald, and then get over it.

Great story!

Great pace and interesting story. Loved the buildup with all of the characters and found more hope with the mishmash of characters than I had expected.

Nice story

I'm always looking for a good post-apocalyptic, futuristic style of story. I was not expecting this to be a fairly optimistic tale, though I was pleasantly surprised with it. I enjoyed the twists that the story took and I liked the characters enough. The story was simple, and I felt like some of it either felt unnecessary or like it was building up to something that didn't exactly pan out. I wished there was more detail of certain parts (which I won't name here as to not spoil anything) and felt like it was a bit rushed towards the end.

Overall I was glad I listened. I don't agree with these reviews from people who didn't even finish the book that it was "too political" even if the politics that were mentioned did lean a bit left. Didn't bother me any, but there so little of it anyway that I can't even pretend to relate to these reviewers that are complaining about it.

Enjoyable, quick listen.
