Publisher's summary

"

Five-year-old Terrinee Gundy decided that she would steer clear of a life of excuses as she was hellbent on being nobody’s victim.

In The Daughter of a Junkie: A True Love Story, Terrinee is shrill and transparent regarding all of the unpredictable dangers she finessed with a junkie for a daddy. As a memoir romanticizing the unparalleled moments of her family's struggles, Terrinee is unapologetic about her family's ghetto love story. Despite her daddy's drug addiction to crack cocaine for over 40 years, Terrinee was relentless to defy the odds of a chaotic, dysfunctional environment flooded with drugs, poverty, racism, the police, and an ineffable amount of calamity.

The Daughter of a Junkie: A True Love Story narrates a firsthand account of an extraordinary young girl who escaped the ghetto trappings and trickery of the underserved and impoverished communities in which she lived. With sheer determination, Terrinee realized her childhood dream of becoming a lawyer and a judge. She takes you through the slums of the Deep South with appalling near-death experiences that started in kindergarten and continued to "The Promise Land" on the college campus of Clark Atlanta University.

Like the fictional tales of Dope Fiend by Donald Goins, her story is entertaining and thrilling, yet factual, as well as veracious through the lens of a highly educated junkie's daughter. Inspiring to anyone who is faced with nonstop, everlasting challenges related to drug addiction and beyond, Terrinee epitomizes the power of a determined woman who focuses on things that she can control versus things that could otherwise control her.

Inspiring Journey Real Life Journey of perseverance

This audiobook is an excellent example of how someone can overcome their circumstances to achieve success. Judge Terrinee Gundy has done an incredible job at telling this story, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for inspiration!

The daughter of a junkie is "inspirational" and "honest," as well as "heart-wrenching" and "fascinating." I listened to this book in a single sitting. Terrinee’s voice is so clear, engaging and so compelling that I felt as if I was sitting across from her as she recounted her journey from poverty to success. This love story is a real life example of Gods unconditional love told through the eyes of a little girl who adores her family.

As an audible book lover , I have listened to many books especially memoirs. This is the first one that had an original music to accompany each chapter’s transition. There were many moments where I found myself laughing, crying or screaming back at the audible. This book is a must-listen for anyone who has ever felt like they were born under the wrong circumstances and my new go to when I feel like I want to give up on my hopes and dream! Thank you Judge Gundy for sharing you story

You can be the change and break generational curses

Wow! Listening to the audible of this book really touched my heart in so many ways. Terrinee ability to transcend her challenging upbringing and finding her own path to healing is truly inspiring. This story served as a reminder that despite the scars of the past it is possible to break free of cycle addiction and forge a brighter future. I’m so very proud of Terrinee for being the greatest and strongest big sister ever to her little sister Mia and a loving caring daughter throughout all the trials and tribulations in her childhood years! Congratulations Daughter of a Junkie, You Did it! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Loved

I loved, loved this audible. This was the only 2nd audible that I have listened to. I loved the journey that the author took us on with such emotion in her voice. I learned what it means to have an audible scored which was a complete treat for me.
I loved how the author illustrated love throughout her story. I don’t think people in general embrace love as much as they should. Love was the surrounding theme in this memoir. It’s evident that the love in all of her relationships got her through all theses very trying circumstances in her life. I learned that people need to love others more and not take these relationships for granted.
I have learned that I need to love people for who they are and where they are. It’s clear that all of us can be victims of addiction, it’s in every community and in every family. We just need to show grace and learn from the ups and down as well as what we can learn from others no matter their backgrounds or circumstances.
I loved how she took the shame out addiction and no one could use that at against her. She turned all those disadvantages into optimism to advance in life. I learned that we can leave the excuses behind and elevate no matter the circumstances. I hope readers learn what they should from this very unique memoir because I’m sure they will be many different take always. I look forward to learning what others took away from this beautiful yet raw memoir while we wait on the next installment.

This definitely a love story. There is nothing that a parent wouldn’t do for their child and it showed in area aspect of this boom.

This is a story that was beautifully woven together to make a tangible masterpiece. It was real and raw reflection on the power or love and the triumph that comes from struggles. It is a must read.
