At Fault is set in the Post-Reconstruction rural South against a backdrop of economic devastation and simmering racial tensions. Written at the beginning of her career, it has parallels to Chopin's own life and contains characters and themes that prefigure her later works, including The Awakening.

not my favorite Chopin

I’m glad i “read” this, as i teach a lot of Chopin in my literature class, but i must say this has nothing on The Awakening or her shorts like A Respectable Woman or Desiree’s Baby. The narrator sounds like she’s reading it for the first time, and her accent work was not accurate at all.
