Aliens.

That's right. I said it.

I know - it sounds stupid to me also. I'm a psychologist (sort of), so you'd think I'd be able to reason my way out of this mess. Except the reality is that I've been abducted to become their breeder, and it doesn't take an advanced degree to recognize this is all sorts of jacked up.

But I digress.

Apparently, these aliens are on the brink of extinction and need me and my fellow captives to repopulate. Yay us. I guess it's time to figure out an escape plan before they knock me up. I'll be back later.

Hopefully.

A good book made awful by the narrator

I love this book. It's fun and quirky and just an enjoyable read. The narrator was a huge disappointment, She seemed incapable of giving each character their own "voice" so it was very flat and she just seemed totally uninterested in the narration. I will make it a point to not purchase any book with this narrator again.

Heroine is pathetic

“Heroine” is kidnapped and held in prison cell. Book barely started and she is already aroused by a stranger who kidnapped her. She goes to his room to sleep with him and happily goes back to her cell to spend the rest of the time. She is kidnapped and called primitive/she gets hurt and so on, but she is focused on getting laid that she doesn’t question how the women are being treated. I can’t stand pathetic people with no self value. The heroine is pathetic and only cares for penis.

It’s not terrible

This book didn’t have many fantastic reviews to go off of. I thought the idea behind the book was good so I bought it. Now I’m about halfway through it and it has good qualities and has some things left to be desired.
This story feels like it was fleshed out in the authors head but not all of it made its way to the page. There are aspects between the two main characters that would make more sense as time passes, except the concept of time passing is convoluted. The way it seems everything happens within a day maybe two. I enjoyed the female lead not being crazy in the hackneyed way of “omg aliens let’s freak and never get a handle on it until they see the amazing goods a alien man is packing” I like the humor used to deal with the situation and the wanting to comfort others.
The relationship / feelings of the main characters definitely could be more fully explained and given time to develop.
I understand the women are stolen for procreation And I like the clinical way they go about it, it makes sense for this type of story. What I wish was available was the thoughts behind the male character and more analysis from the female lead if we can’t have the male leads perspective.

There are also characters that just show up and the female lead seems to know them and have a background with them while I’m sitting here thinking I missed a chapter, like who is this alien dude?

In the end I don’t know if I’ll continue this book but I know I won’t return it. Returning books makes the authors go without payment and that’s horse hockey in my opinion. So even if I don’t finish it I’ll definitely be keeping it.

Great new series

I'm always on the lookout for books/series like this - short, sexy, and action packed. This book hits all those notes and more. I decided to try it out after listening to the 2nd Hearts of Stone book which had a tie in of characters and I was not disappointed.

There is a lot of awareness/perceptiveness in the characters which can come off as a bit unbelievable, but given the FMC and friends age and education (and modern times), I think it works. Plus it moves the story along without unnecessary drama or exposition.

I like Jessica Schly as the narrator. I think she did a good job of keeping the characters separate from each other and acting out the scenes without going overboard.

If you do listen to this book and find it just ok, I would encourage you to listen to book 2 in the series before passing judgement. Book 2 is Morgan's story and it was so very entertaining from beginning to end.

Narrator was alright..

The narrator was alright, but struggled to do different voices for the different characters. It was kinda hard to tell the difference. But I loved the story, I personally read the whole series before buying the audio version. Totally recommend reading it! But not so much with audible with this narrator. Sorry

There’s no way

Not enough real emotion in this book. You go from being free to sex slave to I’m in love, with little to no anger. I rolled my eyes way to much for this short book. Also, the baby was made in love no it wasn’t! He didn’t love you and you didn’t either. 🙄

Narrator was okay but couldn’t do make or different character voices. I think if she’s keeps practicing she will be really good.

Love the book

Love it. Author is great and love the narrator. About to start the second book now, especially since the first one ended kind of abruptly.

Second book is much better

I accidentally listened to book #2 in this series first and loved it, so I was excited to read the first but was a bit disappointed. If you didn’t like this one try the second before you abandon ship! I’m going to jump to #3 with fingers crossed…

Meh

Don’t get me wrong there was plenty of steam but I couldn’t get into the story fully because the reactions and interactions didn’t make much sense to me. It’s the insta attraction/ love that killed it for me. And for a main character who supposedly hates emotion he has no issue with hers or really even his own. I gave it two stars because I could actually listen all the way through the book but only because I dozed off for a bit.

Hot Non-Con but issues...

Definitely a steamy romance that is emotionally engaging. Unfortunately, a lot of my emotions were annoyance and cringes throughout. The beginning gave me anxiety because the voice actor was putting so much realistic panic to her voice. There is a point in the story that killed this book for me. There is literally a 60 second scene where the FMC flips from prisoner to in love and it completely missed the mark.

Issues with performance and the story. More with the story. In a way, this voice actor is impressive with how well she expresses the character's emotions.

Nicely done

The narrator did a wonderful job which made the book flow nicely. The storyline was also well done.
Excited to listen to the next book in this series.
