I had no idea how this story was going to turn the way it did. I thought it was pretty easy to figure out, but then out-of left field part 2 happened and bam!

what just happened

Classic Sarah Denzil! First I thought she was boring, then I thought she was sad, then I thought she was crazy, then it all came into place.

Wonderful twists and turns.

I thought I had this all figured out and was getting disappointed with how predictable I thought it was, then BAM! Plot twist! I’m on to another Sarah Denzil book. She has me hooked.

Great Read

I'm glad I listened to this. I have listened to one other title by this author, and I very much enjoyed both. Compelling storyline and good character development. Kept me interested.

At first, I wasn't sure the narrator would make a suitable match for the age range of the protagonist, but I soon changed my mind. I think she did a wonderful job. I appreciated her transitions, from different age ranges to accents. I would love to hear more of her narration in the future.

If it were an option, I would give the book and the narrator each 4 1/2 stars.

Very Good!

I appreciated the reflection of the characters and the insight to lost memories/dreams. The narrator's voice was nearly grating and almost made me stop at the beginning. Glad to have finished it but not my favorite Sarah Denzil work.

The Inner Dialogue

This is my second Denzil read. It was even more enjoyable than the first one, due to a very surprising plot twist!!

Very creative plot twist!

Attention don’t read further if you don’t want spoilers:

First, if you have been traumatize abused or mistreated by a parent don’t read or listen to this book. I was praying for the mother’s death by the first chapter. The verbal abuse was especially hard to listen to. So sad! And the twin sister was not any better, terrorizing the protagonists like that instead of just confronting her. And in the end she just goes back to her sister.. Shrug. A short read, but I did enjoy the performance. It’s interesting to hear different regional UK accents.

Does she not have the worst family ever?
