Publisher's summary

How do you fight the darkness that grows within?

Beware the cost of death.

After surviving the call to Duskmorrow Swamp, Denton Wade finds himself burdened with the weight of a dark mark and a broken blade. Sent to the Frostwind Mountains by his Battle Mage mentor, there is but one hope: An Elixir of Souls that can only be crafted after successfully harvesting 20 rare thistles hidden amongst the frigid mountain slopes.

In an afterlife world of quests and magic, Denton must make a difficult choice. Faced with two competing quest lines and a broken blade with a growing lust for battle, he discovers the right answer isn't always the obvious one. Will he answer the call to purge the darkness now plaguing the Frostwind Mountains, or will he fulfill his promise to a dying man?

The Broken Blade is the second book in the series: A Battle Mage Reborn, and is a GameLit fantasy adventure with soft LitRPG elements set in the digital world of EndWorld Everlasting.

An engaging story

This is the second book in the series, and you can tell the author is growing and the story is maturing. I quite liked this book and felt a deeper sense of immersion. The pace was good for the most part, and I felt the struggles and battles felt realistic on the whole.
Would highly recommend

Great storyline

I love how well
The characters were developed. Just enough humor for my personal taste.

both books.

this MC is such a whiner. boo hoo. is this litrpg? or a weak willed man's phycology "I need a safe space" session. the constant inner vaginal emotional battles are just pathetic..... I thought that maybe by the second book the MC would have grown a spine, nope looks like he lost his sack as well. I'm about an hour in to it. maybe this review will change, but at the moment this is just. ..I don't even know.

We go into next level

Having read and enjoyed Second Chance, I was eager to jump into Broken Blade. I was not disappointed!
The narration is still perfectly on track, but there wasn’t anything to complain about during Second Chance, so I imagine the narration will maintain its quality for the duration of Endworld Everlasting.
I was pleasantly surprised to find the challenges our heroes face aren’t just leveled up, with higher powers. Most of them carry unique elements that test the heroes in deeper ways. We get a new spread of characters with colorful personalities, and challenged not to see things only in the way it’s visually presented. Personal histories of the Endworlders come into play, and mysteries abound. And if you think that dismisses the action, that would be incorrect. If anything, battles and conflicts come more frequently in Broken Blade, while personal struggles abound, adding a mixture of layers into the story.
There are minute story elements for one or two characters I might nitpick, but I won’t spoil the story, and it’s so small it might even be missed by anyone else. And I am confident it will fade in due time with proper story progression, anyway. (Just a matter of patience)
To conclude, if you are looking for a deep, emotionally charged, high action litrpg for some riveting listening, I highly recommend Battle Mage Reborn and get caught up before the third release.

The broken blade isn’t broken

This is a Great novel with a good magic system and interesting world. There are friendly characters and a story that is focused on character progression and team work. It is a delightful follow-up to book 1. Definitely worth the read/listen!

Who is playing mix-and-match with dead critters?

The story picks right up from where Book 1 left off. Strange things are afoot again in EndWorld Everlasting and are getting worse. And when bad things happen, everyone looks to the hero to go fix it. Denton doesn't seem to have a choice, since he is the here. Well, that and the fact that the bad things are drawn to him anyway. So, when you're a battle mage and bad things come to you, you smite them with powerful magic and stuff, of course. Unless they smite you of course. So, the team reassembles and faces down the threat with the help and hindrance of new acquaintances. As they progress, we learn that there is much more going on other than simple adventures.
The book is appropriate for all ages. My teenage son and I both loved the book and can't wait to read more. You will enjoy the book as well. You will really love the Robert character. At least I did. PIKE!

An Excellent Sequel and very promising series

After reading the first book, this has been a pleasure to listen to. Not only did Frost keep the story interesting and keep the reader/listener involved, in this case, you tend to forget that you are listening to an audiobook. I cant wait for the book to arrive to add to my collection. The narrator did an awesome job of keeping the story at a steady pace and separating the characters so you know who is actually talking and what is going on. 10/10 I would recommend to a friend who hasn't read/listened to this series yet.
