Publisher's summary

An ancient curse. A forbidden love. Which will die first?

Sorrel Black’s family has been ruled by a book passed down from generation to generation. But now that it is in her possession, it has stopped working. For her alone, one critical piece of information is missing that will keep the curse, cast long ago as a punishment for her family’s rebellion, from being passed down to her own daughter someday. She hopes the book’s silence means the curse will end with her—even if it means dying alone. But then Eric Knight walks into her life and changes everything.

When investigative journalist Eric Knight is forced to take an assignment to interview bakery owner Sorrel Black, he has no idea that her story will become their story. That his secrets are her secrets. Now together, these born enemies turned lovers must not only face the curse that has separated their families for generations, but the reality that breaking the curse means breaking their hearts. For, in the end, only one family can survive.

Amazing!!!

This was. . . just. . . wow. I loved this book so much! I had to leave my headphones at home just so I wouldn’t be tempted to listen to this book at work. All of Jennifer Peel/JJ Mackenzie books are amazing but this one got me hooked from the very beginning. I would be sitting at my desk and obsessing over what would happen next! Kim Churchill and Tim Paige did a wonderful job narrating. This book was just added to the list of Jennifer Peels books that I will listen to over and over again!

Great narration

I really enjoyed listening to this Audiobook. Kim and Tim did a great job bringing the story to life. The audio was clear and consistent with no background noises. I would recommend this audiobook.

I enjoyed this story quite a bit. I did find the plot twist to be a bit predictable, but there were enough surprising elements within the plot twist to keep me invested. The description throughout the book was good. The romance was super mild. The ending wasn't as satisfying as I would have hoped for, and I honestly expected there to be a second book, at least, but it's 2023, and there is no second book.

No heat rating as it was very mild.

The Book of Sorrel

The Book of Sorrel is a book I wouldn’t usually pick up, however, the blub sounded interesting. I'm so glad I did decided to give this book a go, as I couldn't stop listening. I loved every minute of it. This book is about Eric Knight and Sorrel Black and is told from both of their points of view.

Eric Knight is a journalist and is tasked with getting to know Sorrel Black. She has secrets that she will take to her grave. However, the more time Erie and Sorrel spend together they start to have feelings. These feelings could also tear them apart.

This journey is such a fun one to go on. There were twists and turns that I didn't see coming. Secrets are exposed along the way. Feelings for each other that grew. I really enjoyed this book, and am excited to read more by this author.

Intriguing paranormal

Another author to add to my list for a good paranormal. It didn't take long for the storyline to intrigue me and I didn't want to stop listening until the mysteries were unraveled. Sorrel and Eric's story is one of fate and intertwined destinies amongst mounting danger and suspense. Great narration to bring it to life too.

Fantastic!

I absolutely loved this book. I think I got through it in about a day. It was very original, a little predictable in a few aspects (maybe I just read too much fantasy), but definitely found this book to be a fantastic read and If the author made a 2nd book, I would be thrilled! Both narrators did a fantastic job! They added to the story. And I am pretty sure I was practically in tears more than once. I highly recommend this one to any fantasy lover, or maybe a paranormal romance. Whatever it is, Its amazing and I need another hit!
