Publisher's summary

The spin-off to the groundbreaking Olivia & Hale series continues the adventure in this four-volume box set.

From the criminal underbelly of Washington, DC, in 1995, to the heavenly city of Atlas and purgatorial Shroud, these stories challenge the limits of urban fantasy, spinning their tales over a half-century of men and monsters.

Ramona Knox is a rookie FBI agent with a special advantage - since she was a little girl, Ramona has been visited by a suited man nobody else can see. This man claims to be Death, something the newly minted agent’s relationship with him will continuously transcend and defy. As Ramona’s lifelong friendship with the Grim Reaper develops, joining them to a suicidal immortal upon whose fragile state their destinies are hinged, the trio must face a deadly virus within an alternate timeline; fight a shadowy cabal in a cosmic metropolis, and defend Earth from complete annihilation when all of creation is threatened by a resentful, banished god and his army of dragons.

With agents of both the light and everlasting darkness trying to outmaneuver each other, can Death and his allies put the greater good before their own? Or, will they learn the same tragic lesson other powerful beings have been unable to avoid - that absolute power corrupts the most benevolent soul, absolutely?

Death Accompanies Her!

Five-year-old Ramona Knox was a special child, after her parents die in a tragic murder/suicide she meets Tim, the Angel of Death who calls himself just Death. Ramona’s relationship with Tim continues off and on as she grows older, even when she becomes an FBI agent. Death provides comfort, advice or at times seems to be judging Ramona’s actions but the real question is why… is he really her Guardian Angel? This box set includes Books 1-4. The narration provided by Jillian Yetter is perfect for the series. I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

The Book of Death

This series is packed full of action! There is never a time when some problem isn't needing fixed. Narrator did a phenomenal job with so much happening. All characters were made their own. I did find it difficult at times to keep up. Some of the story blended together and I couldn't remember who was doing what to who and what "problem" was needing fixed now.

I’m afraid this box set is not for me

I liked the first book up until almost the end.
The first 4/5 of the book is grounded in reality (except for the presence of ‘Death’).
I felt invested in the main character and engaged in the story.
But the end kind of ruined the experience for me. It was too easy and unbelievable.
I also don’t feel like the book delivered everything the prologue promises.

I had a very hard time switching from book 1 to book 2 in this omnibus.
Book 1 is Urban Fantasy, book 2 is Post Apocalyptic.
Book 1 has a single point of view, book 2 has multiple.
Book 1 can stand on it’s own, in book 2 I was clearly missing a lot of information/ prior knowledge.

In book 2 I didn’t feel engaged at all, or invested in any of the characters.
The characters just didn’t feel like real people to me, their emotions non genuine. (where is the grief for example?)
I won’t be continuing my listen.

The narration was very good.

I got this Audio Book for free (thanks!). I'm voluntarily leaving this review.

hard to follow

It was definitely a struggle to finish these books. There was some really good scenes. But it was hard to follow what was happening at times. had to rewind alot to figure out what was going on.
