Interesting plot, irritating accents
Interesting and unusual plot. Worth reading although the theme of battered women taking revenge has me not quite rooting for law enforcement going after women seeking vigilante justice. My main complaint is with the narration. I find the use of local accent irritating and distracting. The heavy accents do not contribute to the plot and it takes effort to work what’s being said.

Gillard at his best!
Enjoyed this one immensely!
Though I caught on rather quickly what was going on, I enjoyed hearing the process of Gillard et al’s journey to reach their conclusion.
I hope this isn’t the end of the series as I’m sure there are many more adventures awaiting us all.

Another great listen to the series !
This book is another fine example of Nick Louth’s fantastic writing and Marston York’s excellent narrations. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

Craig in good form
Good storyline and all the familiar personnel. Louth surprises with one of them - a goodie becoming less admirable.
And if he's done a Henning Mankell - as in 'The Troubled Man' and the way it ended - I shall be really disappointed.

One of the Best in the Series
Sad to hear this is the end of the DCI Gillard series, particularly since this is one of the best and there's a lovely set up for cold case investigations.
As usual Marston York does a great job.
It isn't too difficult to figure out what is happening and who, but it doesn't detract from the story at all. In fact it's fun to see the police work to that conclusion. No unbelievable twist at the end, just good solid storytelling.

excellent as always!
I gave up predicting the plot! the story is fascinating and dovetails perfectly with the previous stories, thank you you made my evenings exciting! Gillard is definitely my favourite DCI!
