The Between

While landscaping his backyard, ever-conscientious Paul Prentice discovers an iron door buried in the soil. His childhood friend and perpetual source of mischief, Jay Lightsey, pushes them to explore what's beneath.

When the door slams shut above them, Paul and Jay are trapped in a between-worlds place of Escher-like rooms and horror story monsters, all with a mysterious connection to a command-line, dungeon explorer computer game from the early '80s called The Between.

Paul and Jay find themselves filling roles in a story that seems to play out over and over again. But in this world, where their roles warp their minds, the biggest threat to survival may not be the Ko?Maro, risen from the Between's depths to hunt them; the biggest danger may be each other.

What a fun, crazy, weird ride!!

Ryan Leslie put together a crazy fun tale and Geoff Sturtevant delivered it like he was living in this weird world. Truly enjoyable!!

A series in the making

Awesome! I can’t wait until this is made into a Netflix series. I have heard great things about the potential cast!

Creative and emotive storytelling

All-around innovative concept and good plot line. Strong and believable character arcs and relationship progressions.

just okay.

this one was a bit tough for me. just couldnt get it in my minds eye. i tried to like it. I hate to say it but i think the narration was the biggest issue. the voices were just off and exaggerated. really liked the concept, just couldnt quite get into it.

On a scale of 1 to 5 this is a... book.

I am on chapter 24 and still pushing through it, but this book keeps getting in its own way. The story is interesting enough and I wanted to love it but the dialog falls flat in almost every case. I'm not sure what hurts it more, the writing or the performance which is mind numbing at times. I have had to go back and relisten to parts because my mind wanders while listening to the narration.

That being said it is easy for me to say... I'm not a writer and like I said I like the concept. It's a cool story if you can get through some stale dialog.
