Take a trip to Blessings, Georgia, where bestselling author Sharon Sala welcomes you with a touching small-town romance:

  • An orphaned little girl who desperately needs a new home
  • A couple ready to welcome her with open arms
  • Friendly neighbors who are always there for each other
  • A Southern small town where great things happen to good people

Ruby Butterman and her husband, Peanut, cannot have children, but they're given a second chance at a family when eight-year-old orphan Carlie is left in their care. It's a challenge for Carlie to adapt to a new town, a new school, and a new family, and when she gets bullied at school, Ruby and Peanut discover how to step up as parents, and how to make a forever family for their beloved little girl.

The unconditional love that P.Nut Butterman and his wife Ruby gave to a sweet orphan child, was nothing short of breathtaking!! The girls mom knew that she was dying. I knew that Ruby would take good care of her daughter. Many people learn lessons through this sweet girl. This is a very heartwarming story!!

I CRIED MY EYES OUT!!!

Review originally of ebook borrowed through my library’s Libby app. I liked this series so much that I purchased it during the Audible site wide sale.
Possible Spoilers:
Definitely a notable end to the series. Sala proves she’s able to write a low key drama. It starts so sad, so poignant, with Shirley Duroy & her daughter Carlie getting off the Greyhound Bus and Shirley dying in the police station. But the Wow happens when there’s legal documentation that Ruby Dye Butterman was named legal guardian of Carlie. Ruby and Peanut are floored and honored to act as Guardians but are just charmed by the sweetness of little Carlie. The sweetness of their interactions, along with Carlie’s new best friend Melvin Lee, make the story utterly charming.
We get a secondary story of Ladd Daltry and Deborah Ryman, who have come home when their parents fall ill and/or need assistance. They are neighbors and former high school sweethearts who went different ways in college. He became an architect and she, a large animal veterinarian. While I’m happy they found their way back to each other, in my HEA world, I would have liked to have the wrap up include Deborah having a positive, defined career path like Ladd. Not just a room in the barn with some vet meds for use on their own animals.
In my HEA world, whether or not there’s OCD involved, I spent most of the book asking what happened to the Duroy apartment in Little Rock? Especially after Carlie referenced back to her other books there! Shirley took care of all the paper necessaries and Peanut is a lawyer who knows to cover the details….So?
I’d give it a 5 star if it didn’t have the two items dangling out there.
Rubinate does a decent job of narration.

it started & now ends with Ruby
