I love this author!!

I love a murder mystery type of story and her approach with the background to each romance. that the characters have a previous history.

Decent Read

This was a good read. I was entertained throughout. However my only complaints are that I still don't know the color of any of the characters hair. I didn't feel there was enough suspense for the climax part. I dunno if I want to read the 2nd book...looked at it and it looks like the exact same story. Kind of disappointed but not sorry I read this. It's just a mediocre story.

Review of audiobook borrowed through Audible Plus.
Possible Spoilers:
Dallas Ann Phillips comes home when her father is murdered. Her ex is now Police Chief Trey Jakes. She gets attacked by a feral dog, chased by kidnappers, forages ginseng to raise funds to pay off a mortgage on the family farm that was used to pay for her college. No resolution on her father’s murder, but she does get engaged.
I had to deduct a star from my review because the murderer could not have held a rope in his teeth if it had the weight of a grown man on it, nor could they have kept the rope untangled around beams and joists.y review
Alvamar does an ok job of narration.

Well written but frustrating storyline

I liked the characters and plot twists, but was driven crazy by the sexist storyline- the heroine kept talking about her guilt for pursuing a career instead of staying connected to her true love. She apologised repeatedly for this behaviour which the hero acknowledged and accepted as his due. What I don’t get was why the hero wasn’t also apologising and guilty for pursuing his career not following his true love. Why were his wants of staying more important than her wants of going - why was she the one who broke his heart - did he not love her enough to go with her?
