Publisher's Summary

Could she ever love a gentleman as much as she loved her magnificent home?

Isabella Beverley is blessed with unparalleled beauty but, unfortunately, has been raised in the most snobbish and haughtiest of families. When her father gambles away their fortune - including Mannerling, the exquisite family mansion - Isabella discovers there is very little sympathy for her plight. As the eldest, Isabella is chosen to court Mr. Judd, the roguish bachelor who won Mannerling. Surely no sacrifice is too great to regain Mannerling? But tempting her away from Mr. Judd is Lord Fitzpatrick, an Irish rake who fears Isabella can never love a man as she does her home. He is nonetheless determined to convince her to choose man over manse.

the Mannerling girls

I like to listen to this book while doing chores or cooking .
In this book we get to see the start of the mannerling madness. how the love for material things may blind you to the thing around you . But like in most of this book you will get a HEA.

Really Juvenile

I like clean books, but this book seemed really silly and immature. I will ask for a refund.

Pleasant

This was probably truest to historical facts of the day than most period romances. Nothing too dramatic and everyone gets what they deserve.

Best series From M.C. Beaton

This series of stories have a beautiful and intriguing story line I was hooked at the first book. You must listen to this series the books do get slightly repetitive in the format but I enjoyed them all. Good and clean.

A wonderful comedy of manners

The plot and characters are extremely entertaining! Beaton is a favorite of mine and Stanton (narrator) captures the various tones, attitudes, and accents perfectly.

Excellent

I can only smile throughout an M.C. Beaton story. She has a. way of holding up the ridiculous faults in society for examination in an entertaining manner then, turning attitudes on then ear for the best.
