Bad narrator

The narrator threw off the story a bit. I’d you can ignore that, the story is great.

Great series, bad narrator

I have been a fan of the Vampire Huntress Series since the beginning. I'm very excited that Audible has the first 2 books in the series available. Unfortunately, the narrator of these books really detracts from the greatness of the stories. Ms. Huber is excellent at the basic narration of the book but the voices that she uses while trying to capture the urban feel of the characters is quite literally laughable. At times it borders on being stereotypically offensive. The publisher (Penguin?) of Ms. Banks' series really needs to look into getting a narrator that can fully capture the spirit and characters of this wonderful series.

Because of the narrator I am forced to give this book 4 stars instead of 5.

What does Hillary Huber bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She does the voices of characters from different ethnic backgrounds very well, very believably.

Evil is all around us, but a small group of committed vampire hunters are here to kick ass.

LOVE THIS SERIES!

Second book in the series! Love it! I own all of the series, thought I would "re-read" it again this way...so I can hear it as I drive. The only thing I can say is, reading it yourself is way better! While I love this series...the voices weren't at all the way they were in my head. Sorry, the easiest way for me to say this is...You can't Fake Ghetto...or hood talk! The voice artist, I am sorry made it sound hella square or shall I say hella white...I am sorry...Just saying. Other then that GREAT BOOK!

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I love the Series and was looking forward to listening. It took everything in me to continue listening. The Narrator SUCKS! Her attempt at voice changing for each character was the worse I've ever heard it made it very hard to continue with the book. Please don't let her narrate another book in this series! It will defenitly hurt sale's of the audio book!

love the series.

the narrators language is too proper for this story. When you are reading a story with slang words you kind of have to pronounce them with a certain rhythm, a certain sound. To me it doesn't work if you say complete words like you're insted of yo.
It was a little distracting to the story the way the narrator read the slang words. and when she tried to rap... well it is all about rhythm and performance.
