Publisher's summary

Now commanding a Dungeon, with people flocking his way like the salmon of Capistrano, Garath’s living large in his new position as king of the world.

He doesn’t exactly have it made, though.

City building wasn’t Garath’s forte with unquestioning NPCs. Forming a brand new society with real people, each with their own problems and motivations, is going to be his greatest challenge ever. Worse, a powerful enemy right in his backyard threatens to subjugate or obliterate humanity within his territory.

Being king of the world isn’t all it was cracked up to be.

In the third installation of Peril's Prodigy, we get our first look at the Sandrani, meet survivors of the apocalypse from near and far, explore the Dungeon’s many facets, and find out just how far humans will go to survive when pushed to the brink.

Final disclaimer: I’m going to be honest, there just aren’t going to be hot elves in this series.

huge error

the audiobook is messed up prologue is fine then it goes to a completely different book until chapter 23 it reverts back to this book. and its a different narrator too i think.

the other story is an adult romance and luckily the book pretty much finished by the time it reverts back to this book.

of course audible doesn't have an easy way to report issues like this.

EDIT: I rated it 4 stars because the other book seems pretty complete and I did enjoy it, though I was expecting the system to interrupt and throw everything off the rails lol.

All better!

Another great book! Garath has stepped up to his new role as Conservator. Base building and tower defense aspects are interesting. Can't wait to see how everyone progresses in book 4!

great series

great series, great book. one thing to remember is that this is the first half of a single book broken in two, so it is a little slow. still fun read and I hope you enjoy it as much as me

excellent continuation, slow start

The first part is a bit of cleanup from the end of the last book. Lots of bureaucracy, arranging meetings and discussing plans for things that won't get done in this book, and a lot of people telling Gareth he needs to talk to people before he makes plans, honestly this part of the book dragged a bit.

but once we get to actually doing the things, and figuring out the secrets of the tower and professions etc the story picks up and moves real fast. They explore hidden trials and do a little base building and rebuff some aliens, there some nods to character development though the timeframe is super condensed. I think this entire book takes place inside 2 weeks so we see acknowledgement of character flaws but not enough time goes by to actually affect the changes. I'm looking forward to a bit more there.

I think the pacing in the second half was excellent it was really getting good when it ended i hope the next book picks up with story in swing and not more bureaucratic nonsense, Gareth repeatedly specifically mentions how boring bureaucracy is, while in the middle of chapters of boring bureaucracy. it's meta and was funny a couple times but it wears thin.

the development of abilities has continued to be interesting and the world is sort if in limbo while we wait to see what happens when the new races invade. This entire book is very edge of the seat and waiting for the reveals.

The narrator was quite good.

Basical 2 books splice together

So this a bad error on someones part. Baiscally half the book was replaced with part of a differn't book. Making the book I wanted unreadable because it jumps to half way threw. The book its self if it wasn't for this problem would be 5 stars same with narrators, however in current format its unreadable becuase it jumps and you have no clue whats going on.
