Publisher's summary

The Apex Trilogy box set includes three books: Dead Mech, The Americans, and Metal and Ash. The three books feature a post-apocalyptic zombie-ridden landscape with military and mechanical action and loads of adventure.

Dead Mech: In a post-apocalyptic far future, there is only one thing that can save the fragile civilizations humanity has cobbled together: the mechs. A ragtag crew of mech pilots must battle the undead hordes, cannibal tribes, and religious cults in a daily race to keep humanity safe. But now, a threat worse than anything has surfaced and is growing stronger. The undead have reanimated in their own battle machines and created the rise of the dead mechs! Dead Mech is a zombie-filled, post-apocalyptic, military sci-fi and mechanical action and adventure novel like no other!

The Americans: The exciting sequel to Dead Mech is a hell-ride through Europe, Asia, and beyond as American ghost Heather Walton must save her family, her friends, and an all important cargo. The world has survived the North American zombie apocalypse, but Americans struggle to maintain their place in a world where the powers that be no longer want them. And will stop at nothing to put an end to their standing and their very existence!

Metal and Ash: Will 50-foot battle mechs be enough against hundreds of thousands of techno-zombies ready to wipe everything living off the scorched map that is the wasteland?

Alliances are formed and broken, mech pilots are made and murdered, secrets are revealed, agendas destroyed, and thousands of bodies fall and rise again.

What began in the wasteland of Dead Mech continued alongside in Europe and Asia in The Americans and then, has its epic conclusion in Metal and Ash!

The author may be a bit crazy.

I need the author to understand that there's no such thing as a 50mm MACHINE GUN!! any bullet larger than 15-20mm becomes a CANNON round. Ugh also when a aircraft accelerates to Mach 2 the people are thrown back. But once the aircraft reaches Mach 2 the people aren't still thrown back. Consult with a nerd next time.

horrible narration

The narration on this book was atrocious,I could not finish listening. I would recommend getting the books and reading them or just skip this one.

"THE AMERICANS" MAKES THIS SERIES WORTH THE $$$

While I liked Dead Mech, I LOVED The Americans!!! Jake Bible has managed to pen a "stand alone" sequel that portrays the American Spirit that was once so prevalent within our society. It is still found today in the Southerners, the Blue Collar individuals, and in the majority of people who fight to immigrate to America for the freedoms we bare and the drive to provide a better life for our children than the life we were born into. I've seen American Marines & Soldiers do things that Hollywood could not duplicate. If or when we ever end up in another battle on American soil, it's these strong willed people that will band together and save our hard won freedoms.

Zombies, meches and wasteland!

The title say it’s all. Great book, it’s got all you want with a zombie mech story. Smart mech, lot of zombies, cults. Epic fights and the rookie!

Watch out for razor, he doesn’t like to be called that.

Keep a open mind

I think it’s fantastic, main character twists, tons of wild action, but just keep in mind to kinda listen to it like a comic book. If your take it too seriously it will ruin it but if you take it as a comic/wild adventure it is quite fun. This is my second listen.

Narrator sounds like she has a bad head cold the entire time. Drove me crazy the entire time. Didn't even finish the book because of it.

I can't believe I got this.

Its an issue when almost all characters sounds like rough necks from the country. Some how the narrator makes the characters sounds like they smoke a pack of Newport's before every sentence, unnecessarily shovenistic and unintelligent. I barely made it past the first book. Do know how this got such a high rating. It came off as a horrible b-rated movie. Then again there ate big robots.

Non better! Ticks ALL the boxes.

So, I hunt down post-apocalyptic, 20 hrs plus audio books as I listen to them for 8 hours a day whilst gardening.. I've got over 200 books on my Audible account & buy 3 credits every month. I spent 2 hours on Sunday morning, in bed, next to my beloved (also on her phone) searching for my next week's book & this won. I read the reviews & thought it met most of my criteria so spent my credit.
Winner, winner, chicken dinner!!
It.. is.. awesome my friends..from narration (God almighty she's talented) to plot, to suspense, to comedy, to crippling sadness & heart-wrenching sorrow.. It delivers on every level. I don't think I've ever heard so much swearing in one book but it works & the story would be less without it.
Buy it, absorb it & enjoy it.. what a triumph.

You get your money's worth

I didn't dislike it, the mech pilots I did dislike they do tend to gibber on in battle would be nice if they concentrated a bit more, though thank gawd for Mr Stone!

First book is amazing!!

Really enjoyed the first book, having listened to the whole series I wish I had stop there.
The second book was boring and felt like it dragged on to much.
The third book felt rushed and the ending left to many question's.
if the book series had stayed in the same setting as the first book I think this series of book would have been amazing.

entertaining but very one-dimensional characters

I listens to the whole series after listening to the mega series as I thought the mega series had potential and I like the idea of dead Max. My biggest problem with this whole series is that all the characters do not learn anything for evolve pretty much at all, especially the latest ship and just like the mega series, the leaders, one of the worst parts of it. caprese is the worst. I hated him.
I think this writer has a lot of potential and its a fun idea the concept of dead meth warrior style, armies and zombies. but after listening to 30 plus hours with no real evolution of characters, it gets very dreary. overall it's a 3 out of five, but if you just want to enjoy a bit of zombie killing shoot him up then this book is for you.
the reader was ok. a few characters were odd. didn't have much depth other then their one style but ok overall.
I would never do this book again series though
