Publisher's Summary

Rowan and Citra take opposite stances on the morality of the Scythedom, putting them at odds, in the chilling sequel to the Printz Honor Book Scythe from New York Times best seller Neal Shusterman, author of the Unwind dystology.

The Thunderhead cannot interfere in the affairs of the Scythedom. All it can do is observe — it does not like what it sees.

A year has passed since Rowan had gone off grid. Since then, he has become an urban legend, a vigilante snuffing out corrupt scythes in a trial by fire. His story is told in whispers across the continent.

As Scythe Anastasia, Citra gleans with compassion and openly challenges the ideals of the "new order". But when her life is threatened and her methods questioned, it becomes clear that not everyone is open to the change.

Will the Thunderhead intervene?

Or will it simply watch as this perfect world begins to unravel?

What a roller coaster!!!

Like any book, there are good and bad moments. Times when it’s impossible to put this book down, and times when you’re anticipating the next whirlwind. I have read hundreds or fantasy books and this one has such a great ending, my jaw dropped. Well done Mr. Shusterman.

I love everything

This is one of the most enjoyable pieces of fiction I have ever encountered in my entire life. The plot keeps surprising me, going to places I would have never dreamed of. I’m am internally screaming about the last few chapters, and I’m already longing for the rest of the story!

Unexpected, from start to finish

What does Greg Tremblay bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Greg Tremblay is forevermore the voice of the Thunderhead.

Any additional comments?

A few hours ago I was silently griping because I thought Scythe was a great standalone book and I wasn't looking for a series based in that world.
After finishing Thunderhead, I realize that there's so much more to be said about this world--so many more stories there that I want to hear.

Almost as good as book 1

I love this world and the way the author puts these characters in seemingly impossible situations. My only issue is the ending. Book one ended with some closed ends and I was satisfied. This one I feel tad cheated. Everything is up in the air. Also, the narrative primarily focused on Citra. I often wondered what was going on with Rowan. I could actually see this book being just as effective without him. And that’s difficult for me to say because I like both characters equally.

A wonderful mid-series pivot.

I demoted the story to 4 stars only because they made a vital character (SL) temporarily stupid to move the plot along. Once I got over that 3 sentence disappointment, it went back to being epically enjoyable. Can’t wait for book 3.

awsome!

I certainly hope they make a movies out of these books, the Thunderhead left me so satisfyingly empty at the end of it LOL, and now I have to suffer the wait for the next one. I don't think I have ever been so wrapped up in a story.

Wow

I really enjoyed Scythe and thought it very complete in its own right, but Thunderhead just takes it to the next level. What a story.

Outstanding story and performance.

Wonderful continuation of the story, with some surprises and twists. Also a very interesting way of involving the Thunder head as an actor in the world.

Such a good book!

I absolutely loved this book! It really starts off from where it left off, and it does such a good job of tying everything together! The book is such an amazing and thrilling rollercoaster and Neal Shusterman does such a great job and keeping the plot twists going and keeping the reader on edge. The end has lots of loose ends to tie so I can’t wait for the next book!
