When "science-fair geek" Anika goes to live with her scientist father in a town built around his mysterious genetics laboratory, she is determined to prove herself worthy of his legacy. But all preconceptions about her new life are thrown out the window when Anika discovers her father is a megalomaniac living in a town populated entirely by mad scientists.

Now Anika will have to navigate her way through a high school filled with vindictive evil geniuses, deadly science projects, and unspeakable human experimentation. Relying on her wits, scientific know-how, and talented allies, Anika fights for her very life, and the lives of her new friends. Will Anika have to become like her mad scientist father in order to save the day?

Annika lives with her paranoid mother who keeps moving them and changing their identities. Annika loves everything science and has a strong desire to help all she loves including her best friend. She then learns that her father is alive and lives in a town in Florida that he built. Her mother has been hiding her from him since she was a baby. She also learns that he has a research facility, so she moves there. What she finds is not what she expected. A pretty good story.

A different kind of story

This was a great first book about a very smart girls who is thrust into a world she has been fearing would happen, She knew her and her mom were on the run from something, but she was not expecting this.

Ryan, a freshman writer, writes a great story and provides a lot of information, sometimes it gets a bit busy and it is hard to keep track of who is who, but the story was a lot of fun, The story is steeped with sci-fi influence and tones of the 80's are mingled in there. The main character development was very good, there were a few things feel off and some felt like they were put in as an after thought, but they do not take away from a well developled story at all.

I would recommend.

The reader was also a freshman to reading books, she did a good job, and as she does more projects she will only get better.

Great first book, looking forward to more.

I liked this one better than my wife did, I think the narrator could use some help but I really enjoyed the story.

This is a great new series
