Had to return the book

The story sound great and I was sort of getting into it. at 3 hours 12 minute mark it stopped, and turned off my app on my phone. tried in my car, it stopped in the same spot and turned off audible. Last thing, I tried on my computer and same thing. Like I said, the story line seemed good, but couldn't get past the 3 hour mark

Exciting Listen

I liked the books. They kept me interested. I liked the lightness of the beginning. It got a little too dark, but it was very interesting.

Fantastic. Not in a good way.

Sidney Rye is the dumbest dog walker turned multi-millionaire private detective that I have run into so far. The most likable character is the dog, whom the author manages to underuse and mis-use. Action-adventure stories are naturally over the top, but almost nobody in these three books behaves in any way believably.

There were a few high spots. The general plots weren't too bad. The way they were developed was the problem. I ended up listening at 1.5 to 1.75 speed just to finish, and I admit that puts the author at a disadvantage.

The narration was ok, once I got used to the monotone style and frequent up-speak? It was probably appropriate for the material.

I could say more in detail, but there's no need to beat a dead horse. Other people obviously liked these stories. Maybe you will, too.

Wow! OK, these I cannot stop listening to.

Love these books! Just enough mystery, murder, danger and laughter oh and throw in friendship. I had to stay up listening to 1-3, omg...just bought 4-6! Not really gory and, it's not really shrieky scary...but tense!

Outstanding! Addictive! Left Wanting More!

Loved it! What a fantastic story and performance! I'm thinking of changing my dog's name. Non-stop action as our heroine, Joy/Sydney encounters and overcomes one, and another adversary. ...but how she and puppy does it is worth the reading and/or listening.

Unleash the purse strings and buy the box set

For the price of one you can own the first three books in the Sydney Rye series and it is worth it if you like kick ass female Detective stories

Book one UNLEASHED- This is the first in the Sydney Rye/Joy Humbolt series. It starts at the beginning and explains how Joy needs to become a whole new person, after looking into the murder of a client. The body of which she stumbles across while walking his dog. She starts out as a humble dog walk down on her luck -broken up with boyfriend, no job and no future. It soon progresses to mysteries, dead bodies, treasure and revenge. Resulting in the birth of Sydney Rye and a good book.

Book two DEATH IN THE DARK - This story is shorter as only a novella but is still enjoyable. It starts with where book one left off and goes onto explain how Joy has well and truly been left behind and Sydney starts her training to become a detective. No not learning how to collect evidence but how to fight and control Blue, her faithful dog, but it doesn't take long before Sydney ignores her trainer and comes to the add of a local family to right a wrong.

Book 3 INSATIABLE - Sydney has her first case to help track down a missing/runaway girl, but things aren't always what they seem and soon Sydney is on the run from the police and has another dead body in her past. With the help of a group of friends Sydney soon finds herself well and truly caught up in a wed of mistrust, discerption and betrayal were the only option is to keep going forward at all cost.

All three books are good but as a bundle they add a punch. It is the same narrator for all books which is good as she is easy to listen to and made it any enjoyable 20 hours or so. The only reason it got a 4 star was because the first book was a bit slow to get started.

Same as so many other trashy books.

totally spoiled by unecessary swearing and sexually explicit visuals. I tried to scroll to the end to write this as I only listen to a little of it, but could not Pity, the story might have been interesting and I have wasted my money on the audiotrack. I really would not even give it a 1 since I didnt even get to the story. I dont understand why talented writers need to resort to such low grade writing strategies.
