Publisher's summary

If there's one thing Warlock Marcus Shifter hates, it's the Delwinn Council, the governing body of the magical community. Between the grudges many on the council harbor because he walked away from magic and his suspicions that someone is working to undermine a 20-year peace with the nonmagical Normals, they really don't get along.

Marcus has spent months hunting the traitor, infiltrating the council and helping with "menial tasks" like repairing unstable rifts in the fabric of reality. But when he accidentally thwarts an assassination attempt at Delwinn HQ, the council does the unthinkable: They appoint him the poster child for the peace movement.

Now Marcus has to not only figure out how to control his resurging powers but also navigate the potentially fatal waters of fame. Between the growing number of protestors, news-hungry paparazzi, and nightmarish beasts hounding his every move, he'll need more than a camera-ready smile to uncover the traitor and keep the peace.

Great new series

There is action, magic, weapons, and fist, all kinds of action. The Dresden Files move over; you are not the only good wizard story around. I love this series. It follows the usual formula. A number of a few friends have to fight and uncover a plot which could make humans aware of another species. Marcus Shifter, normally called Shifter, has a loving and talented family. His bringing did not run along the usual fashion of wizards, which puts in in disfavor of all the wizards. It does not matter how different he was raised. The important point is that his family has his back in a fight. And his parent can kick ass.

Taking a life is not an easy thing for Shifter to do, so many of his troubles come from the reluctance to take a life. So there is always a lot of soul searching when many times he needs to just shoot someone and get over it. The magical community is changing and more characters and situations will be added. As in real life, the big question is, what is a human are wizards and other paranormal included? Shifter has a united nations assortments of friends, so this issue will affect Shifter and who better than to make peace with the species.

I LOVE IT. THIS SERIES GETS BETTER AND BETTER!!

I absolutely love this second book the series. Warlock Marcus Shifter is growing up and learning to be more diplomatic in his approach towards authority. His friend and allies are helping him out, His girlfriend guards his back at all times and they make. Wonderful pair. He is also beginning to build his power and control it. Very well written and performed. I hope Joshua Roots will continue this series and that more books will be published soon. I hope the whole series will have william Dufries as narrator as he does it so well.
