Publisher's summary

The witch who can talk to animals meets the witch with a talking cat. What could go wrong?

It's Valentine's Day in Winterspell, but not everyone appears to be feeling the love. And no, I'm not talking about my dateless self.

Instead of being wooed by candlelight, I'm working in a candle shop. Cora Hearth, Winterspell's magical chandler, has teamed up with Sugar Shack to create party favors for the lucky couples, and they're counting on us to spark some magic for their special night.

So, when a thief breaks into my delivery van and swipes the goodies, Cora and I-and her persnickety talking cat-have to join forces to track down the culprit in time to save Valentine's Day.

Excellent

The only thing better than a Danielle Garrett novel is having it read by Amanda Ronconi.

Cute, but not worth an Audible credit

I love this author…find her stories funny, cute, and a nice escape. I was very disappointed that many of this series were novellas, and sold individually for an audible credit. They should be grouped together. I didn’t realize when I purchased this one (I had listened to most of her Nine Lives series). A story that is narrated in an hour and a half should not priced as a full book. Audible- you need to fix this.

Ella’s decline in critical thinking

Based off previous works with Ella, we know that she’s smart and has a certain degree of detective skills, which seem to be completely absent from her brain in this book.

Slight SPOILERS now:
She didn’t even ask the girl in jail who “she” was, nor come up with the simple idea of giving her back the destroyed cookies and just following her to see who was actually in charge of the theft. Why on earth would she have not gone straight to the paint shop to see if her cookies were there or at least monitor the building if she was going to let the cop take charge to make sure the suspect didn’t leave and take them elsewhere. And the loose thread was the lady with the stroller because we never figured out who she was or how she managed to find her way to the treehouse since the little girl wasn’t strong enough to give directions to the other two. And we don’t know how that woman with the stroller may have been affected negatively by the mission. Eh. I know it was short, but it seemed rushed. It’s still cute, but I like these characters so much so I wanted more. And I want them to be consistent.

Cute and lighthearted

Sweet lighthearted story after the last “heavier” book. I love the blooming romance and the introduction of Cora who has her own series (Nine Lives Magic). On to the next!

Selene Needs Her Own Series

A sweetheart of a cozy mystery to find who or what stole Sugar Shack’s Valentine packages. The candlemaker’s cat stole every scene in Midnight’s search for the Valentine package. A witty short installment in the Sugar Shack mysteries.

Good but expensive

Loved this novella but it was more expensive than the next full book. Not happy about that and I don’t realize it until I looked at the time in audible.

Great crossover

I have just posted the review for the previous book in this series about how much I would love to see crossover of the different characters. This author has created. Here she has crossed over the perfect potions series with this one, which is exactly what I wanted to see. A sassy cat meets someone who’s used to talking to animals, but not sassy ones. I hope this is a taste of things to come because it looks like these two main characters could become best friends. It would be a very interesting mix.
