Publisher's summary

Monsters don't hide in dark alleys.

They lurk in plain sight, clawing into your soul with cordial smiles. They wear Armani, they drive Cadillacs, they attend fundraising balls... And they rule the city with a merciless fist.

The Familia is a mystery to most, and sitting on its throne is Kage Malvagio. Vile. Sadistic. Painstakingly beautiful.

Some say: Ask for forgiveness, never permission. Kage asks for neither—especially when he gets his hands on me.

I should hate him. I should run at the first chance I get. But how could the devil be so bad when he looks at me like that?

From USA Today bestselling author Kelsey Clayton comes a dark mafia romance filled with pain, betrayal, devastation, and revenge. Suffer in Silence is book one of the Malvagio Mafia Duet and ends on a cliffhanger. This dark romance deals with topics that are not for the faint of heart.

Suffer in silence

Very common mafia plot, but with way less “plot”. IMO had a lot of filler that drug on without merit. I was excited for the release and bought right away before waiting on reviews.

What a great surprise!

I liked it a lot! Interesting story and characters, a little dark and not YA, with a good mix of steam and plot.

The narrators did an excellent job, and the cliffhanger left me wanting to listen to the next book ASAP!

It's a new author to me, and I will check her other books!

Suffer in silence is how I would describe my listening experience.

I tried to listen to this all the way through but I finally had enough at chapter 17 after being almost raped twice by his men and bullied the whole story by the male lead he uses and abused this young girl only to try to put the handle of his knife in her as a farewell f*** NO. With only an hour left to go I WAS DONE. I only kept listening because I kept thinking it had to get better than this, but it didn’t. Unless the last hour really picks up which I’m thinking it doesn’t. In summary…

•the plot was slow and miserable it was not enjoyable to listen to. No comedy to lighten it up, no found family to invest you in the characters, or even good action or romance, just a brooding unlikable ML.

•a dark romance that’s less romance and just the dark and toxic emotional abuse and manipulation of a young girl

•the FL’s character never really got well developed it started off promising, but then not much just a lot of crying and a few attempts at escape, but nothing to invest you in her character.

•the narrators didn’t match the characters. The male narrator sounded too old for the ML and the FL narrator has a weird faintly Irish timber to her voice but the FL isn’t Irish sooo….yeah it was weird.

DNF will happily return and move onto a different series.
