Not as helpful as I expected

I had heard and read a lot of hype on this book from other writers I love, but I’m not the audience for this book. There were only a handful of even somewhat new ideas, and many of them were written from a very privileged position of having money and enough health to travel, etc. as well as an expectation to have the ability to work long hours and still have the energy to do additional activities.

This was the first I’ve read/listened to by this author. Perhaps I should have started with another.

Nothing groundbreaking, disappointed.

I heard about this book on a podcast and was eager to get into it for new perspectives and tangible life hacks I haven't yet applied myself. However I was disappointed to find nothing particularly new or groundbreaking for someone already well versed in work, life, family, self, mindful and spiritual improvement. It might be a great first read for working moms just surfacing from life overwhelm looking for tangible help with work-life-family systems and self care.

I found the chapter on Marriage very jarring with its extremely hetro-normative narrative, even for me a married straight woman. Jessica's narration was very enthusiastic and super positive, but sometimes it detracted from the content as I felt like I was being overly pep talked at a women's lunch event overly branded with the tag line #stretchedtoothin.

A good basic read, but personally I'd hoped for more new ideas and a deeper look at guilt and how to reframe it.

more encouragement for working moms

It's a good mix of examples, tips & tricks and encouragement. Even if you aren't a working mom, the content is still applicable as most moms, working or not have similar feelings of not being or doing enough. It's just a bit I've read before, hence the lower rating. Definitely best if followed up by utilizing her website.

first finished audiobook!

Enjoyed it for the most part. I prefer to read but rarely have time with a 2yo, so this audiobook came at the right time. I recommended for working moms. especially if you need encouragement to do more self-care and to let some things that are as important fall to the wayside. she does speak about her religion but as a non-religious person I did not feel alienated.

great insights on life prioritization

I have enjoyed listening to this book. I believe the book did a wonderful job depicting the struggles a working mother could face some solutions to deal with the challenges. I am definitely losing the guilt of working and being a wife and mother. Good quick listen.
