Publisher's Summary

As a globe-trotting freelance photographer based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Lori Finning has seen just about everything. But when she lands an assignment on the barren, snow-swept island of Newfoundland, she finds herself in harsh and unfamiliar territory.

During the long, dreary winters in the isolated fishing community of Stormy Cove, gossiping is the primary pastime. So Lori is surprised when she learns of a crime the locals have spent twenty years not talking about: the strange, unsolved murder of a teenage girl. As she delves deeper into the village's past, she'll discover dark family secrets, unexplained crimes, and an undeniable attraction to Noah, a taciturn local fisherman who just might hold all the answers.

Was a slow start but picked up

It took me a couple of chapters to be drawn in. I almost gave up. I am glad I didn't. Characters and story were easy to follow.

Pronounced 'New Found Land',

Enjoyed the book but every time the narrator pronounced 'Newfoundland' wrong I cringed. Also in NL 'police' are referred to as 'Mounties' - RCMP, not police. For many Newfoundlanders tea is the preferred hot beverage not coffee, so wouldn't expect to go into a home or Bed and Breakfast and have coffee in a carafe waiting for guests.

Perfect...

This is one of those books that I thought when I first started that I wouldn't care for it but the more I listened the more intrigued I became and it ended up being 100 and 10% wonderful

I tried, I really did. Was it just me? Maybe.

In my opinion, this was the slowest moving mystery in Audible history. I got through chapter 29, and just couldn’t listen any longer. I don’t know what the 200-year-old mystery and murder are. Whodunit? I don’t care! I couldn’t take it any longer. All I heard was BLAH BLAH BLAH!!! In my opinion, this is not recommended. But remember, different strokes for different folks.

This book was a great distraction from my life. Just the right element of romance and drama to keep things interesting!

If you need help sleeping this is the book for you

This book is dull, plan and simple. Kept listening think it must get better, but it was just boring from start to finish. The main female character is really annoying as well and really started to grate on me by about halfway through the story. Narrator is okay but not great - are Newfoundlander's supposed to sound Irish? All in all it's not great and I really wish I hadn't wasted a credit on it.
