very exciting and captivating but violent
These could almost be enjoyed by even very young children except for the strong cruelty and violence. The a-social bullying done by the Glows is pretty bad, but feeding people to the rats is more shocking. I don't think I could have wanted my mid-teens to read this, much less the younger ones who are actually the intended audience.
Despite that, I enjoy these very much. The fight between good and evil is always a winning topic. Hatch's megalomania is either growing or just becoming more evident. In this volume we finally have people changing allegiances and rebelling, creating a much more complicated and realistic world. Hatch seems to forget that HE is a No-El, the people he plans for his Glows to conquer and dominate. Events are ramping up to a final showdown, but we still have a few volumes to go (at least one not even written yet). This volume also gets us closer to someone we've heard from but haven't known well in precious volumes. My guess as to this person's identity is more sure now, but we will still have to wait to see.
Hatch's speech to Quentin regarding his conquered population is as near to grand-standing as Mr. Evans has come so far. The sad thing is that I believe people on both political ends will think it refers to the other.
Regardless of the violence or political statements, this story captivates to the point that you can't wait to read the next one! Fred Berman is back doing the narrations, so all is well with the world.

Thrilling story as usual in the Michael Vey series
What was one of the most memorable moments of Storm of Lightning?
The most memorable moments was the bonding I had with my 10 year old son who listened to the story together with me. My son and I have read all the Michael Vey series so far.
Any additional comments?
I seriously wondering when it will all end... its getting a bit long drawn and I'm hoping we're ending the series soon... I'd like to read about how Dr Hatch meets his fate!!! GRRR...

This book was just a filler
Any additional comments?
This was a shortest book out of all the books in the Vey series only 6 hours and 59 mins, and it was mostly a filler with little to no action what so ever only dialog with loads of drama.
It's not a bad story just wanted to let you know what your buying when you buy this one. It's a filler, things do happen, but don't expect any real action.

So glad the original narrator is back! I loved it
Would you consider the audio edition of Storm of Lightning to be better than the print version?
The narrator brings these kids to life. I am so glad they brought back the narrator from book one. The others were just OK.
What other book might you compare Storm of Lightning to and why?
I don't read many books geared for kids or science fiction but this entire series is fantastic. If you have kids 8 and older I highly recommend this series but start with book 1 and go in order.
Nice to see a book about kids face with food and evil and they make the right choices over and over!
I hear a TV series is in the works...hope it lives up to the book.2
Have you listened to any of Fred Berman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Good Bridge
Enjoyed the story.
That said I think it was a bridge between books. It rapped up the last one nicely, and set up everything up for the next.
Some have said it is short, but I think it was just long enough. Some authors seam to make such books so long you just want them to end.

The least of the series
This book had the least action of the series. There were a few suspenseful moments, but not nearly as many as the other books. And yes, we are left with a cliffhanger to the 6th book.
