This book is not to be missed

The book is highly entertaining. The characters are well written and the plot is superb. The story has everything a person could want in a book...romance, vampires, and adventure. There is grief, love and justice to add to the story. I couldn't stop listening to it. Anyone would love this book who loves the genre.

The narrator did an excellent job of narrating the story. She narrated the characters perfectly.

Shifter, vampire and bounty hunters

Somewhat confusing at times but an ok story. The narration was good. Valerie Paul put a lot into her performance. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Kind of short but good for what it is

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This was a quick, fun listen. It is a little short, so I would have reluctance to spend a credit on it otherwise. As for the story, it has shifters and vampires and enough paranormal content and action to balance the relationship stuff. For me, this is a big plus. The narration is pretty good, I thought, and fit well with the story. All in all, I was entertained and would definitely be open to more from this series.

Why don't you think magic exists Chia?

I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator.

Chia is a character that confused me in the beginning. She kept stating that she does not believe in magic but yet there has been many instances where she should know magic exist. The fact that she knows that shifters are real but does not think magic exist confuses me. I wonder what she thinks about shifters and how they shift from Human to animal form? Also she sees apparitions around her but yet that isn't magic as well? Chia seems to be in denial because of her mom and that is no fault of her own it's just weird that somebody can assume that there is no magic but yet she sees it all around her.

Chia is the town manager which I assume is like a mayor because the chief of police did ask her if she's just going to focus on policy stuff and I'm assuming that is what a mayor does? 🙄🤔🤷🏾‍♀️

Anyways, Chia is newly elected and she learns that her grandparents has passed. She does not think that it is a natural death that occurred with them and she is determined to grieve but is skeptical about certain things that are happening within the town. She realizes that there is somebody out here taking out individuals and she is trying to figure out what is happening. Now this is where it gets a bit interesting.

Chia is supposed to be the mayor but yet she turned into an investigator who kind of has a bit of magic but not really. I don't know how to explain it. I'm pretty sure in upcoming books it will be explained more in detail who and what Chia is but she has some gifts that are super helpful with trying to find out what is happening within her sleepy town.

I am excited to figure out more about Chia and her grandparents and also why are there shifters in her town specifically? What drew them to that place there has to be something that is there that makes that place secure for the shifters and all the difference supernatural beings.

On a side note I have to wonder why the issue with her grandparents burial place plays such a major side role in this book? I don't know if it's just for Chia sake but I read a lot of books and I know that when something gets repeated multiple times there has to be some significant happening. Or I might be wrong Maybe it's nothing but it seems like

The narrator is definitely not the best. The way she reads the story makes me think that she is not confident with this book. It's is very choppy. It sound as though she does not pause when she needs to but pauses when it's unnecessary. It sounds like a fifth grader being told to read out loud to the class in a book or a textbook. It just does not make the book as interesting as it is.

Interesting

This book is not what I usually read but I liked the blurb so I thought I will give it a go. I liked the suspense and the authors take on the species in this book, especially the vampires but I found that the main character acted more like a lustful teenager then an adult. I can't make up my mind if I like her or not. There is a lot of talk about sex but nothing happens, there is some violence but it is not graphic.
Would I read or listen to the next book in this series? Yes I would, there are some intersting characters in this series and I am curious to find out what they would do next.

I wonder what a town manager is.

Great beginning for a series. I can't wait to see where it is going, I want to say more about this story but I absolutely hate spoilers, so I won't go into details.

Strong start to the series

Great book, though a little short. The world at larger isn't explained much, but characters have good depth. The mystery side is also well done, keeping you thinking. It leaves enough mysteries for it to keep interesting in books to come. There was some too much racism/sexism/xenophobia from the characters, but it eases off. Great production and narration. Brilliant 5 star audio book

I wasn't sure what to expect when i started listening to thi sbook as it did sound quite intriguing but also very weird.

Fortunately I quite enjoy weird so I am glad I did listen to it as it was a brilliant story.

It follows a woman called Chia who is the new mayor of a town called Charming, Alaska as she investigates the death of a deer shfiter in the woods.,which she sees as driving home one day.

Whilst investigating the murder she meets a Bounty Hunter who has come to investigate the dead girl and also other creatures including shape shifters.
The book and narration are both brilliant and I can't wait to listen to book 2.
